The State Hotel

Due to a change in travel plans, I had to grab a last-minute room. I booked through hotels.com. Beautiful place, friendly staff. Simple & straight-forward. Sleek, smart design. My only issues were confusion re: payment. It seemed as if the hotel didn’t get the information that I had already paid. The staff was understanding & helpful, but this service through hotels.com could use some work. Also, the shelf in the bathroom was placed right in front of the outlet, so the hairdryer couldn’t be plugged in. I will reach out to the hotel to let them know. All in all, a wonderful spot, just two blocks from Pike Place Market in one direction, and the light rail in the other. Highly recommended. Would stay again.

Check in was easy and friendly. However, the room was not fully up to my expectation: I had a lot of work to do and the room didn't have a desk, only a narrow board along the wall with the TV and a poor chair - working was a nightmare. The real issue with the service became obvious after I checked out. I forgot my very special water bottle in the room on this work-board. I called the hotel in the afternoon to alert them and went back the same evening, but the bottle was not found. The concierge gave me his card and stated that he would talk to housekeeping the next morning and then call me. I never heard again from the hotel. I sent an email to the address on the card, but the email was rejected. So I sent the email to his colleague, who had received email from me before. I have not heard back. This indicates that the only interest of service has is to please guests as long as they are at the hotel, with no real concern for the human beings guest are besides a money machine. Definitely not a hotel to go back to or recommend.

Check in was a swift and friendly experience. The room was quite small for me, but I appreciate how it was in such clean and immaculate shape. Complaints: The view left much to be desired as my window faced a brick wall. Also, the music in the venue below me was also quite loud, and I was able to hear it pretty well from the third floor with the window shut. I also had to literally go out and ask that my room be serviced. Will likely stay here again with the hope that I have a better room, generally, and that the service is up to par for the value.

Great central hotel, pleasant staff and comfortable bed. Only downside was that there was no iron in the room or place for makeup or anything in the bathroom — a bit more space would have been nice.

Very stylish and comfortable and clean. But really noisy. Banging and door slams and external noise woke me up throughout the night.
