Parkside on Ellery Bed and Breakfast

The property is in a good location and is reasonably comfortable. However, the house smelled very moldy so we had to run a fan and an air conditioner all the time to prevent the unpleasant smell (both were in the room). Asa result the room was a bit of a wind tunnel. Parking was not available on the property so we had to find street parking. It was ok as long as we moved the car every 24 hours and preferably before 9 am and after 9 pm, as that is when it was easiest to find a spot. We were tied to the car, which we were just hoping to leave parked during our visit, and I felt like the parking situation was misrepresented. One of the neighboring properties had a construction project going on which meant loud sawing and hammering noise starting at 7:30 am. I understand that the bed and breakfast can’t control its neighbors’ activities, but I think charging $ 250 per night in a construction zone without a warning is unfair.

I thought the place was way overpriced. The water in the shower had a very light flow. The breakfast was a continental breakfast that had to be ordered and was delivered to the room. The air conditioner was very loud. I would give it 3 stars out of 5

The room that I stayed in was not very accommodating. The AC was in the living room and only a little fan in the bedroom to deal with the humidity. It wasn’t at all as what to expect in a B&B for the price I spent. The access to room was steep, the bed was ok, and the bathroom was mediocre. No amenities that were even close to luxurious. Only breakfast available was English muffin and coffee. After re checking the site, the room I stayed in wasn’t even included in the photos and wasn’t close to similar to the esthetic of the other rooms.

There are a lot of things to like about Parkside. The location is unbeatable. Shortwalk to Harvard Yard, Harvard Square, and Harvard Museum of Art. There is a Blue Bicycle stand around the corner. My stay was 12 days, so I opted for a monthly bike pass for $30 dollars. Saved me a lot of time and money with trying to park a rental car or take an Uber. I stayed in room 2, which had adequate room for me. It is up a steep flight of stairs, but the innkeeper David helped me get my bags up. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Cambridge area and a good resource for tips and local history. The room has an en-suite bathroom that was impeccably clean. The bed was quite comfortable, and the room was kept cool with a window unit. There was also a moveable fan. The breakfast was sufficient for me, but if you are want a full American breakfast you will need to go out. The breakfast was delivered at a time chosen between 7:30-8:30; I had an English muffin and coffee every morning. There is a small fridge in the unit, a sitting area with a table, a loveseat, and a small desk. Some things that would have made the stay more comfortable: A small microwave and an ability to darken the room. That was probably my biggest complaint-- there were lights on outside all the time, and with the sun rising around 5 a.m. in the summer, the room was never very dark. There are curtains and old shades, but they do not block the light out well at all. New blackout shades would go a long way!

I think I was scammed. I was told that I got the scholar room - but there was no air conditioner, no cable TV and very uncomfortable, poor quality bed. The room I got was nothing like the ones showed in the pictures and I had to climb poorly lit steep staircase to my room. There was no one to even help with luggage. A very poor experience overall!

The Parkside on Ellery enjoys a wonderful location close to Harvard Square, great restaurants and museums. The room is well appointed with beautiful period furniture including a desk and breakfast table. Our host, David was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

I had a great stay at Parkside B&B. David was very welcoming and made check-in easy. The room was large, clean and comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and there was good space to hang up and store clothes. The location was also perfect -- with a Starbucks and small market down the street -- and easy walk to campus and Harvard square.

It is very quaint and the Victorian room is big and very old English. The proximity to campus (Harvard) makes it convenient for walking to museums, the yard, the square, Smith Campus Center and the river houses. It is clean, has working WiFi and cable tv as well as all necessary amenities. David, the host is really friendly and accommodating. He brought breakfast daily even when I forgot to order. I would stay there again if available.
