Lake Barkley State Resort

They advertise as having Wi-Fi available to their guests. However, unless you are inside their main building you do not have a signal and you're so far away from town that your cell signal is very spotty. AC in the room would not blow out cold air. I called the front desk and she informed me that she would contact maintenance and have them come down. No one showed up the 4 days we were there. Other guests also complained about this. The bathtub/shower had mold. I did take pictures to show. I realize we're out in the woods and it's a rustic lodge but they make the pictures online look a lot better than it is in person. It's a nice place to stay if you don't mind spiders and giant spiderwebs. They're on every light at night. Our room had a great view of the lake, which was very nice. It did have a nice porch to sit on. But the room does not have a refrigerator or microwave. 2 levels but no elevator; just stairs down to your room so plan your luggage accordingly. The restaurant isn't bad but don't go by the menu online because it's wrong. We had gone to breakfast in hopes of trying their omelets but were told by the waitress that we "haven't offered that in almost a year". She said she'd make a note to tell them to take it down. So, we were disappointed. But the breakfast wasn't bad, just pricy. Do your homework. They don't tell you anything about the fitness center, pool, game room or anything else they offer unless you ask about it.

Beautiful area with Lake Barkley and LBL nearby with wonderful activities and sights. Good food served at the Lodge. The indoor pool is a huge plus for the entire family. The overall condition of the Lodge was a disappointment with musty smell in room, mildew around the bathtub and spider webs everywhere!

Beautiful location but resort area around lodge needs attention. Food in redo was still.

It was very ran down beautiful scenery. Shower didn’t drain. Side walk was broken all up around outside. And looked like hadn’t been mowed all year down tree limbs.

Restaurant was great. Staff was friendly. Lots to do around the area.

Staff was polite and helpful. The view from the rooms is wonderful. The room I was in had two queen size beds. The beds were clean and very comfortable. The lodge was built in 1966 and could use some updates.

Alot goes into my review.. The area is Beautiful. Great awesome place for outdoors for fishing, boating, hiking, camping and etc Lodge was very old and not kept up at all, and it could because of the COVID-19. Room was not the best, could have used another deep cleaning, musty, furniture was 70 style. No fridge. But bathroom was updated and clean. Very few people on staff and it could have been because of the COVID-19 cuts. Mosquitos and gnats were very bad, couldnt enjoy the balcony. But it is outdoors. The swimming pool needed a cover, it was hard to get a good picture from the Restaurant balcony. 2 nights were booked, but cancelled the 2nd night and traveled somewhere else

Everything was above & beyond our expectations! Will definitely return soon

Staff and visitors were all exceptionally nice! The place was great with an amazing view! Food is exceptional!
