Great hosts in PARADISE!

The fact that this review is being written that far after our stay should tell you all you need to know about this stunning property and location. The memories and experience will last a lifetime. And don't let the logistics of getting there stand in your way. The trip is soooooo worth it! Gary and Betsy are the best hosts my wife and I have ever experienced and are there to accommodate the guests with anything they could ever need. The property and surrounding garden is its own little paradise. And the beach is STEPS away! Just make the trip and enjoy.

The Hummingbird was by far the best place that we have ever been been to. The accommodations were fantastic! The hosts, Gary and Betsy, took care of everything for us during our stay. The food was out of this world! Highest recommendation!

We had a fantastic stay at the Hummingbird! The staff and owners, Gary and Betsy, were all so lovely and attentive. The food for breakfast and dinner was a delicious high standard, and whilst ‘they don’t do lunch’, the bar snacks are more than big and tasty enough to keep you going in the day. The 4 villas at the Hummingbird are equally charming, with doors that open fully bringing the forest and beach into your room, and give you a great way to spot the many species all around (We saw sloths, monkeys, frogs, lizards, an agouti, hummingbirds, and a turtle whilst in the grounds or just outside on Playa Bluff!)

Hummingbird isn't for everyone. It's off-grid and out-of-the-way. But it's also out-of-this-world. The essential message is that Hummingbird is a wonderful, intimate place to unwind, commune with sloths (real ones), and fall sleep to the symphony of crashing waves. Highly recommended.

Betsy and Gary take special care with all their guests from the moment you arrive to to moment you depart. Cooked to order breakfasts, tons of birds, butterflys and nature to watch, super comfy rooms, ocean facing bar are just a few of the special things about this Inn. Worth the drive down the beach road for this experience!

Amazing stay with great hosts

Truely amazing stay at The Hummingbird. Betsy and Gary have really found an ideal spot on the Island and carefully built this place with cosy Bungalows in a beautiful garden with great views. Everything is thought through in detail and absolutely high end, including breakfast and dinner. Bluff beach is right on the doorstep and probably one of the prettiest beaches in Bocas, not always good for swimming though. If you want some days or weeks to relax, enjoy being in the nature and have no problems with being on the quieter Part of the island(s) this is the perfect spot. For us it was probably one of the most enjoyable hotel stays ever.

A little slice of jungle heaven

My wife and I spend three restful days at the Hummingbird following our wedding that was busy and filled with activities for family and friends. While the weather didn't cooperate until the last day, we couldn't have asked for better stay. The room was nicely appointed with excellent bedding and towels, including separate towels for beach and pool use. The shower and vanity areas were nicely appointed with modern fixtures. The semi-private balcony was a perfect place to relax during the day. The breakfast was presented as a menu fixe in the morning, but for our three days it was nicely varied and always delicious. Fresh fruit, french press coffee, fresh juice and a nice main. The dinner menu was varied enough to keep things interesting and the quality was excellent, with 4-5 seasonal options for starters, mains and dessert along with a daily special. For our short stay it was just right. For lunch we wandered up the road to a local place that had good pizza and assorted sandwiches and pasta that was casual and tasty. The owners Gary and Betsy, do their best to make sure you're comfortable and content and are excellent to guiding you for however much or little activity is on your agenda. Gary also has a great eye for the local wildlife and was always pointing out birds and critters living in the area. A wonderful stay. Better for adults seeking a respite that those go go go types needing or wanting constant stimulation.

Awesome place in Bocas

Any ask for anything more. Beaty and Gary were perfect hosts! Went way beyond the call of duty. Even after finding out our flight was running late made a dinner reservation for us just in case
