Can do better. Poor shower room safety

The hotel has good exterior and good service, however the room we got does not have shower room safety. The shampoo and the shower gel are placed outside the shower room and you have to walk on the slippery floor to get them, In addition there is no shower curtain on the shower room so the splashes all the way below the door and into under the bed you have to call house keeping after shower to dry it. Then the overall final finish of the surface is still rough, on the sink, am sure with a good management they can do better.

We actually enjoyed our stay at this property. It was our experience after we left that has completely ruined the experience we had. I booked for 1 night, but once I arrived after asking for a later checkout the staff member told me you booked for 2 nights. I informed the staff member that I only booked for 1 night. But he insisted it was for 2 nights. We filled a registration form out based on their guidance. A day later they contacted us via WhatsApp and informed us that we stayed longer than we should have, we have charges that need to be paid. I told them exactly what happened but they continued to make me feel like I was the one who stole something from them. I asked them to take accountability for an error they made, but they completely denied everything. If we were supposed to checkout after 1 night, why didn’t anyone come to check why we didn’t check out at the checkout time after the 1st night? The staff member who messaged me used language to belittle me and what I was saying, they would not answer any of the questions I asked and they would not send me the reservation saying that it was for 2 nights from the night I checked in. I did not deny the reservation I made, I am more than willing to pay, but making your customer feel like they had bad intentions is a horrible horrible form of service. An Expedia agent agreed that the hotel made the mistake and that it was only based on their advice that we stayed. The hotel is beautiful, but be careful with the staff.

Hotel Slipway is a beautiful and well maintained hotel. The rooms (executive) are specious and true to their pictures. Management might just want to refresh the furniture in the near future to keep up with the competition. Overall, great location, staff, restaurants, and experience. Will definitely be back!

More for business than a holiday

The Hotel was very nice and has lots of shops and restuarants around it. These are very public and are not exclusively for guests. I was a little fooled by the photos as i thought it was a hotel with a beach. Not so. It is on the water edge but no beach swimming or bathing. The hotel has a nice swimming pool for guests and breakfast is taken in a nice setting. Choice of food for breakfast could be more but it was not bad at all. Rooms were very nice and quiet but not so scenic. Overall we were happy but the hotel is not situated such that it could be called a holiday destination

Nice but beyond perfect

The location is the main positive point. The area is very clean and has several small shops and a few restaurants/bars/coffee places. All right at the sea however without really a beach that one can use. I booked an Executive room and would have expected to have at least a reasonable sized desk with real chair to work. Unfortunately the room does not provide that, therefore no clue why they call it Executive. Internet is ok and reasonably fast. There is a small balcony and rooms from level 2 and up have sea view. All is a bit dated, I had to smash my door to really close it. Several power outages during the night. Pool area is nice however not a lot of chairs and shade. Gym has sea view but small and A/C off, just windows open. That means a lot of sweating. Breakfast is ok but the selection a bit limited. The most I liked was the proximity to the bars and that you can be back to the room within a few steps.

An Oasis in the City

Between the hotel, the surrounding shops & restaurants, as well as the ocean views, the Hotel Slipway is my go-to destination whenever I have a day or two passing through Dar. Sea view rooms in the new building come with balconies that are perfect for working or a little people watching. An afternoon by the pool is a great way to rest up before a long flight at night.

I love the property, didnt like much of terrace breakfast options and the taste of their food. Waterfront food was really good. And other restaurant around. Live band is really good. It changes the mood
