Hôtel La Caravelle

I enjoyed my short stay here. The staff was friendly, location great, the room clean and the bed comfortable. II will stay here again.

1-throws over lobby furniture can’t hide their threadbare & worn condition 2-bathroom (a) stank (b) shower so slippery we had to hold on so we wouldn’t fall (c) only mirror in room was over bathroom sink but had such funky lightbulbs you couldn’t see unless you were almost nose to the mirror 3-mattress was (a) poor quality (b) sat on wooden slats, no box springs (c) tilted so bad I had to be careful I didn’t fall off 4-missed our wake up call. When we complained said they called the room twice & considered knocking on our door when we didn’t answer phone but didn’t. When he checked, the room phone didn’t work! It’s old...clean but old & tired. Yes the managers are nice people but a hotel has to function to be a good value.

We booked this hotel for our family of four and when we arrived they told us the room was for only 3 people and they accused us of lying about how many people were going to be staying in the room. Hotels.com matched us with this hotel and our reservation clearly showed 4 people, which I showed to the hotel clerk. They offered us a cot for the "extra" person and initially wanted us to pay for it, which they later told us we did not have to after we complained. We had no air conditioning, which was also a huge surprise and could not keep the windows open due to the mosquitoes that entered our room and bit us while we were trying to sleep. Needless to say, we did not enjoy our stay here. The hotel was situated very well, however, centrally located and a short distance from restaurants and shops.

We loved Aix, and the hotel was conveniently located, just on the boulevard outside the (small) old center, on the southern part of town, near the beautiful Quartier Mazarin and just a few minutes from the main street, the Cours Mirabeau. It's a fairly basic hotel, but the staff was friendly, the wifi was fine, and the room, while not large, was comfortable; we even had a small balcony. We only stayed one night, so can't say much about service, but the reception was welcoming, and they easily took and kept our bags (we arrived before the room was ready), gave us a map of town,a nd offered advice..

This affordable room was just a short walk from famous museums and the town center. You could also walk to the train and bus station from here.
