Aussie Settler Motel

Stairs make access difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Staff were vrry helpful by changing room to most accessible . Just be aware of this if booking online

The room was in desperate need of an upgrade. There was an old musty smell and we decided not to stay. The whole hotel needs a makeover. We are happy to stay in 3 star, but would give this place 1. The staff however were fantastic and gave us our money back without hesitation.

The Aussie Settler Motel is a decent budget choice for a stay in Queanbeyan/Canberra. Positives: The room came equipped with a good range of kitchen accessories - fridge, microwave, electric kettle, bowls, plates and cutlery. The room was spacious and came equipped with a table and chairs. The room was tolerably clean - although you will probably want to wash any cutlery before use and give the table and bench a wipe over. The beds were comfortable. (I didn't use the television or AC, so I have no comment on them). Negatives: The wifi wasn't functional during my stay. While I stayed in a room away from the highway, some road noise still penetrated the room. Rooms closer to the highway may face even more road noise. When I went to pay with cash at check-in, I was told that I couldn't pay that way - the amount would be deducted from the credit card that I has used to book with. It would have been useful to know that in advance.

No we’re to hang enything in the bathroom Could not see the screen to check in because of glare

Screen door was not aligned to door frame and didn't lock, paint was peeling off bathroom window, fridge was very loud, shower rose leaked water up and over the top, TV was too small and not installed in front of the bed. Traffic noise was terrible and there were no curtains/blinds on the bathroom window and no white mesh curtains on the main sliding door so you could have privacy, or daylight - not both.

Our only concern was the stairs i found they were hard to climb up and down i am 71 and have arthritis

handy to airport very neat and tidy stayed two nights

No designer bed, no pool, no private balcony. Upon arriving after spending 8 hours in car, was looking forward to designer bed as advertised on website, to find creeky old springy bed with springs poking through. Took video of bed as proof when sat on. Horrendous. The managers did an excellent job of trying to look after us, putting toppers + blankets on top of mattress as we were extremely tired from trip. I spoke to Mary who owns the motel and she told me she didn't know about mattress and argued with me telling me it wasn't her website. My husband and I booked for three nights, no other accommodation else where, was extremely disappointed. Upon checking out I let Mary know we should be reimbursed for first night or whole three nights as nothing was at motel that was on website. They did buy a new mattress but it was so hard, and still uncomfortable. Extremely let down. Dining chairs were also grubby looking.

Good location just outside of Canberra, a lot of food options nearby which was convenient and complimentary gym facilities located next door
