ibis budget Manchester Salford Quays

We wanted a comfortable, reasonably-priced base from which to explore Salford Quays. The location was great and close to the tramline for Media City and for Manchester City centre. The price seemed a little higher than we first expected but we paid it as it included a continental breakfast. The breakfast turned out to be excellent....perhaps the inflated price that weekend was because of the Manchester Marathon? The room was wonderfully clean but tiny and with little or no hanging or storage space and only one hard stool to sit on (in a so-called 'double' room). The ensuite bathroom comprised a tiny toilet cubicle (opening from the room) a washbasin in the room itself and a shower cubicle opening directly into the room. Privacy? Almost none! Thank goodness we've been married for a long time. There are no coffee/tea making facilities. The expensive hot drinks machine was 6 floors away - not easy to access for an early morning drink. You could rent a kettle + 2 sachets for £2 per day plus a refundable £10 deposit. No hairdryer either - needed to leave a £10 deposit at reception. The staff were helpful and polite, however!!
