ibis Berlin Kurfürstendamm

We chose the Ibis as our base for five days in Berlin. We were attending the Folsom Street Fair nearby, so it was well-situated for that. Less than a block from the U-Bahn. Only a block from KaDaWe (just a big, overpriced department store). Convenient to the city's gayest neighborhood, without being right in the midst of it. The staff were nice, accommodating. Laundry prices were extortionate. Breakfast was good, but extra fee. Room was very small and spartan - by far the smallest room we had among the six hotels we booked for our European tour. The room was so basic that I couldn't help but wonder what the rooms at the adjacent "Ibis Budget" property must be like (I wouldn't want to know). There were lots of nooks and crannies for storage, helping to maximize the tiny space.One stupid design flaw: The bathroom door is frosted glass, so when someone gets up to use the toilet in the middle of the night, they have to either feel their way in the dark or flood the entire room with light beaming through the glass door. Dumb.

The hotel was nice clean and comfortable. There was a good buffet breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was paid secure parking to the rear of the hotel. The location was good about a 10 minute walk to the zoo entrance which was a good reference point whilst exploring Berlin. I would definitely stay here again.

IBIS is usually very reliable. In this case didn't even get a bathmat some days, glasses left uncleaned after servicing, room was very sparse, no safe, no kettle

Everything was great except the laudry service is not in house and takes too long.
