Anglesea Motel and Conference Centre

This was just a last minute stopover stay in Hamilton while travelling by car to Auckland from the lower north island. I didn't require anything special - and the price I paid was low - so I certainly didn't have high expectations. And overall it was fine with easy access, off street parking and set in a central location close to the city centre. But, in saying that, the carpet in the room was disgustingly bad with all sorts of stains. Not a great sight, and it hardly made for pleasant stay.

Good location and friendly staff at check-in. Room itself was okay but it had an overwhelming purfume smell from a wall spritzer. Wasn't sure why it was so strong but then when people in a neighbouring room came outside for a cigarette the smell came inside mine - I guess the perfume is there to balance that out. Anyway it was quite overpowering. There was also a lot of noise from other guests oitsidein the carpark and on the balconies during the evening. I would probably look at other options before staying here again.

we liked the whole complex and when we are there we like it like home.

Reasonable, but not flash condition. Some curtains not closing fully, latches off windows broken, a bit grubby and worn on walls & ceilings but overall clean. Double bed a little short for me (189cm tall, 6"4'). Relatively noisy neighbours outside.

Kids running around just in nappies, people having fights behind the building. Not what was expected

Good location, rooms adequate but tired. You should know that the motel is also used for social housing - there were unsupervised children roaming the grounds as well as a number of adults sitting about drinking, smoking and playing loud music. Felt quite uncomfortable staying there although nothing untoward happened. Maybe I am a snob but I wouldn’t stay here again

Close to where i needed to be. Clean and tidy. Linen was white, clean and bed was comfortable. I didnt really see the point in all the lights on or off. At least have one light being able to turn on or off or if cant have a diming dial.

Very clean, cosy motel with very welcoming staff..

We have stayed in many hotel rooms in Hamilton but the Anglesea would have to be the largest room configuration with ample space and excellent service. I would highly recommend their service as they go out of their way to take care of you

Unfortunately on arrival we requested a refund due to the fact that this motel is being used as ‘short term’ housing for the government. Kids, adults smoking and drinking gathering in common areas & carpark. Just not a relaxing atmosphere or inviting.
