Candlewood Suites Athens

The clerk at the desk was very friendly. It went down hill from there. I guess I did not understand the concept of staying at Candlewood Suites. The room was so dreary. The one wall had nothing on it, as in a picture or something. A bulb in the bathroom did not light. The toilet had a constant running of water. It was not bolted to the floor or something. I thought it might move when I sat on it. I just had hip surgery and was concerned every time I used it. I am not used to having to go to the front desk if I need clean towels. No beds were made in the morning. No hot tea or coffee in the lobby. We had to get up and go out for it. The curtain on the window looked like it had been rolled up in a ball before it was put on the window. I can not understand a kitchen outside a bathroom!! The first 2 days the room entry card worked. Saturday I had to go back to the front desk to get it activated. Sunday I had to go back to get it activated. I will never stay at or recommend Candlewood Suites again. I am so sorry I wasted my money on such a depressing stay. Since I booked online I could not cancel my reservation or I would have moved out after one night.

Would have been excellent except for the amount of hair all over the shower walls and bathroom in general. Could have stuffed a pillow.

The hotel worked with me to change my reservation from 2 nights to 1. When I checked in early just to get room keys, the clerk did not seem to know what she was doing. When I returned much later to go to my assigned room: the keys did not work, then the room was occupied and the only remaining room was a handicap room! No discount was offered and the room was in need of several repairs!

Very convenient but a bit hidden (behind Cycle World Harley) off the main road just down a quiet side street. Lots of well lit parking. Good place to stay if working at Cat or west side of Athens.
