I stay at the Surf motel many a visit to SF. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean with some updates like laminate floors. It is well situated near the Embarcadero waterfront in SF. Great location and some good food nearby. It is helpful to be able to park in their parking lot with a parking tag as a guest.

Okay for the overall value, but we will not be staying there again. There was mold in the bathroom, hairs left in the bathroom from the last guests and it was clear the sheets were not changed. We only had one night there, so we dealt with it, but don't recommend staying here

The site of the motel is unusual, located on the busy Lombard street it has access to good food and sites, They do place you with what room you first selected when you paid online or what is available. The rooms are cozy, working cable and amenities. It is fairly quiet and it feels very safe. Good place to stop at when staying in San Francisco for a few days..

You get what you paid for. Location wise is amazing. Short drive to almost all of the tourist spots. Clean but outdated, and a lot of minor fixes needed, at least in the room that we got. Lots for restaurants in the area that are walking distance from the motel.

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! There were no bars of soap and none available, the pillows were rock hard flat, the heater did not work at all which I’m assuming also I meant there was no air conditioning if we had wanted that, The elevator was an antique that took forever, the parking spaces were extremely narrow, the towels were paper, thin, lije the flooring (we heard the people/music below us) and it took us anywhere from 3 to 8 tries to open the door! BUT: THE LOCATION IS GREAT!!

Room was very dirty and dusty you can tell they don’t dust the room and all the railings were rusting. There was no working hairdryer. The room has an old lingering smell that is very strong. I wouldn’t recommend staying at this hotel. It needs reinvestment and an update.
