Air con was leaking at 2am. It’s a good thing that they have 24hr front desk. He managed to get a new room for us. We were then allowed to stay in the new room. Breakfast was very simple, we had coffee on our last morning and some nibbles. We’re informed during check out that our room didn’t include breakfast but front desk waived the charge. It’s a short but uphill walk from the train station.
Great location, walking distance from Termini station. Points of interest all accessible on foot within 10-20 minutes walking distance. Very helpful and jovial hosts - you'll get real help and directions to get around and cover all the important sights. Breakfast is basic but you can fill yourself satisfactorily and hit the road for the day. The bathrooms are cramped and hard to move around, but clean. Expect limited top up of toiletries. Additional tip not related to the hotel: There is a great...GREAT "trattoria" (cafe/restaurant) serving Italian food just round the corner, called Antica Boheme. Please...PLEASE eat here at least once. The food is simple, authentic and fabulous! Ask the hosts when you check in and they'll happily direct you to the place.
Friendly owner had excellent recommendations for a local trattoria. Neighborhood is very convenient to Termini, buses, and Metro and a short walk to Trevi fountain and Piazza di Spagna. Clean rooms, good rates, and a great stay.
When I checked in, I actually liked the hotel a lot. But I only stayed there for 2 nights, and the first night a water pipe broke leaving a huge flood on the floor, the second night toilet flush broke. In the first night I noticed a little water on the floor. After I washed my hands, water started pouring from somewhere, all over the bathroom floor and then over to the room, on my luggage etc. I tried to clean it myself, then called the maintenance guy. He fixed everything pretty fast, but when I complained that I hadn't been able to sleep because of this issue, and that my luggage and gifts I bought were all wet, he raised his voice on me, saying it was an accident and "Mamma mia!". Nothing really rude, but I'm not used to being yelled at in hotels, this really shocked me, so I was crying after he left. So much for a good night of sleep in Rome. And after the second night, I wished I had stayed elsewhere, no matter the location and cost.
The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the staff very much. The hotel however, was a bit rough around the edges. The queen bed was made up of two twin beds that kept separating throughout the night. The room had a distinct odor, like when you walk into a house that has cats. It seemed to be decently clean, though not impressively. The bathroom and shower were extremely small, making it very uncomfortable for my boyfriend who is a bigger guy. The shower didn’t drain at all, although we read that’s a common problem in Italy so I guess we can’t hold that against the hotel. Still, the bathroom flooded every time we showered. This being said, the location was fairly good with close proximity to the city center and public transportation which made getting around convenient. We didn’t hate it but if we were to go to Rome again, we would try a different hotel.
