Aspen Hotel Soldotna

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, staying at this hotel was just to have a bed for the night. There were no extra services available.

Hotel is under construction. Travelling with elderly friends, the front walkway was 3' wide and 5' deep large areas on both sides of the walkway. Explained our concerns to Hotel Desk person who agreed to cancel our reservation and refund the charges. Upon trip return and noticing the hotel charges but not the promised refund, Aspen Hotel managers are refusing to honor the refund and claiming we were "no shows". When I explained that their advertising material did not disclose the state of construction at the hotel, the manager told me "we are not required to disclose that". I'd avoid this hotel.

Lower service levels, said to be due to CoVid. Room started out clean and we were able to trade towels when needed.

Clean and friendly staff. Parking a bit limited. Beds very comfortable !! Thanks to Covid only got to see beautiful pool and hot tub .

Here we go: No screen in the open window makes for a lovely introduction to Kenai's most famous wildlife; the mosquito. The description on Hotels.com didn't mention the broken window lock or the 2x4 "security" bar that still allowed the window to open 20". We also went across the street to Safeway and bought some toilet paper for the hotel, since we were only graced with the end of a roll of gas station, rough, single ply toilet paper and never could get more from the desk. The parking here is horrendous. If you're back to the motel by 6:30pm, you're out of luck and have to park in the gravel former minefield that is Arby's overflow lot. After the local meth-head offered to "Watch out for" my car for the super low price of $25, I knew I'd picked the right place to stay. Like so many businesses "in this unprecedented time", they've decided to peel back services that have absolutely nothing to do with Covid-19. Many hotels I've stayed at have substituted microwaved breakfast in lieu of buffet style. Not here...you're on your own. That big ol pool, just full of chlorinated water? Now box storage area.

The room was ok. But I specifically chose this hotel for the amenities. Specifically the breakfast and the pool. They weren’t offering anything when we went there.

We were grateful this hotel allowed us to check in early, but were disappointed that all the needed amenities were unavailable which was very different from our experiences at other lodgings. No breakfast, no pool, no exercise, made for a no frills stay that was not reflected in the price of the room. Now I make it a point to call ahead to find out availability of services before booking. Our room was fine otherwise. Bed comfy and fridge and microwave were helpful with reasonably priced meals.

I needed to use the business center for work, but it was closed. Because of this, I was unable to spend the night there, and I had to drive back to Anchorage to complete my work. I had a non-refundable rate, so I was out the cost of the room that I never slept in.

I loved the boardwalk that takes you along the river and I love the location. I DID NOT like that I was told it would be a $100 deposit and they charged me $155. I DID NOT like that we weren’t informed ahead of times that all amenities were closed (pool, hot tub, fitness center, breakfast) and that housekeeping wasn’t daily at this time! I DID NOT appreciate the group of guys yelling and making a ton of racket right out front at 140am.

I always use this hotel. All staff is kind and good service.
