Not for us, but beautiful and comfortable place

While the resort is big and beautiful we felt it is not the best choice for us. We missed good dining opportunities around as we prefer to eat outside of hotel to try more local experience. The beach is indeed beautiful but the water is not blue and clear as in Chaweng. The pool is huge! But not overlooking the beach, and so is the breakfast location. The property provides lots of privacy but we felt it was too quite and really dark once the sun sat. I couldnt fault this hotels service or attention to details. The room is comfortable and really beautiful. it was just not a good fit for us (a couple traveling with 3 years old) We decided to leave earlier than we booked and no refund was offered (it was prepaid and we didnt even mentioned it, but I would expect the hotel to initiate some kind of discount in such case)

Perfection in every way!

This is an outstanding resort. It is probably the best resort that we have ever stayed in. Everything about it is exceptional. The greeting and check in was personal and caring. All the staff are amazing and cannot do enough for you. They seem to anticipate all your needs. The breakfast is the best I have ever seen, with a juice and smoothy bar, egg station and pancake and crepe station. Order and the food is brought to your table, no need to wait. Service is exceptional, efficient, polite and unobtrusive. The rooms are fantastic. We had a garden villa with a separate sitting room and a plunge pool, just metres from the beach. The bed a super king, the biggest bed I have ever seen was so comfortable. The bathroom is huge, with excellent toiletries in abundance. Ducted air conditioning was quite and efficient. The grounds are extensive and beautifully manicured. You can call for a golf buggy to get around which is great, especially when it’s raining. There is only one small fault that I could find and that was the coffee at breakfast. It obviously came from an automatic machine and was terrible. They need to purchase a good machine and train some baristas. Still a 10/10 stay in a wonderful resort. We are already planning a return!

Real Thai feel, lush tropical gardens, beautifully kept. Run by brilliant German management who have impeccable standards for the hotel. Lots of German guests who seemed to have a different set of rules to the English! We booked a beautiful beachfront table at an evening bbq and it was given to a German family because ‘it was their favourite table and they’d sat there all week’. And the beautiful hammocks on the beach were allocated one per family but some German families seemed to have two.....there were even early morning towels on some of them!! Strange behaviour in such an exquisite place. Clearly money doesn’t necessarily mean manners. However my third visit and I will definitely be back. Stunning place, amazing food, fabulous and very attentive Thai staff.

Beautiful gardens, beach and villas. Lovely staff.

We stayed for our honeymoon in a villa right on the beach (an upgrade, thanks to the hotel) and it was perfect. A very restful and enjoyable stay. The staff are super friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. The inclusive breakfast buffet is delicious. You never have to ask to have your room cleaned or replenished as the staff are very quick to turn beds etc. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and are a credit to the gardeners. We rented a scooter locally which is always a perfect way to explore.

This place is amazing. Expensive but worths every penny. Of course once can pay half and still get 5 resort hotel, but trust me - it is all in the details. Breakfast is superb, Pool is awesome, Private beach cannot go better, staff is super friendly, villas are spacious and well-equipped, and the resort itself is clean, pretty and maintained.

Below par for the money

We stayed at the Santiburi after a similar amount of time at the Ritz Carlton about 20 minutes away. I'm rating based on the price of the hotel at over £330 a night inc taxes etc. as it was the same cost as the Ritz Carlton. To be fair to the Santiburi the location is lovely, the beach is gorgeous and by far the best thing about the hotel. Otherwise I found it to be well below par for a hotel of its cost. The rooms and surrounding amenities were not sufficiently maintained or updated. The pool area is large with plenty of space but needs updating and this is the theme for most of the outdoor areas. The beach area is nice and the beach bar & restaurant provide the best location in the hotel for drinks and food. The food is ok, there was nothing particularly wrong with it but neither was it outstanding especially as it was not cheap. Cocktails were weak and not worth drinking. Lastly the service was average with a Thai smile. All the staff were pleasant but the service was very reactive instead of proactive. We paid extra for a plunge pool but wouldn't again. It was always filled with bugs and leaves. Plus the entrance to the pool was through the bathroom shower and was essentially a shower door with very small turn lock....this was the only thing to stop people getting into the villa and there was a large gap above the 'shower door' which ultimately let bugs in. Unfortunately there are plenty of better places to stay for the money
