Where to start? - We arrived a whole family and booked the most expensive rooms (3 rooms in total) The rooms were filthy, outdated equipment, and poor maintenance. In our room the air conditioner was noisy at insane levels and barely cooler, and after a visit from the maintenance man, the room had to be replaced. Since in the only room available from the same category, the air conditioner also made noise, they started lowering us with suggestions for rooms at a lower level, and since it was not acceptable to us, we got the only room left from the same category. Regarding guest service - just a disgrace how regularly just do not answer the phones from the reception! The only one who tried to do anything to correct our bad experience, was Mahmoud, the receptionist, who gave us compensation for one dinner. As for the food - without hurting, it is food at the level of "kibbutz" / catering, and really does not fit the excessive cost we paid for this vacation. The cleaning service in the rooms is just very bad, and comes down to arranging the bedding in place, changing towels, and completing the cosmetics, without cleaning the shower, toilet, floor, dust, leaving the ashtray on a full balcony ... just disgusting! Would not pass in any area of hotel review) The hotel gets a one star rating, just because of its potential and special location ... and that's it. Probably not worth its exorbitant cost, and a pity ..
We arrived at 14:00 and had to wait until 16:00 to check in. At the check in desk a guy named Mahmoud was very polite, apologized and upgraded our room. The breakfast was good, but the dinner was not, maybe because of the corona new restrictions. The swimming pool is wonderful and we spend two days with our 4 years old daughter.
Sweet hotel, great view, lots of things to do in the area, places to travel around Very poor food experience
We loved staying here! Will definitely return! We left a different hotel bc of bad condition and this hotel turned everything around for the better even in Covid times ❤️ There were few minor things due to the fact that the hotel just opened, but the staff did their best to fix / make up for it all! Loved the room looking out to the mountains and the pool as well, best place to stay in the Dead Sea area! Thanks to Karni and the rest of the lovely staff.
Fantastic desert location in an oasis of greenery and botanical gardens overlooking the Dead Sea and mountains. Room was very nice, clean with a veranda to enjoy the mountain views. Restaurant had a great choice for evening meal as well breakfast on the veranda overlooking the mountains - the food really was very good. Lovely on-site spa with salt water pool pumped up from the Dead Sea - very strange first time experience of so much buoyancy - difficult to stand up as legs kust want to float! Highly recommend a spa massage treatment to rejuvenate the body after days of walking around religious and historical sites. Also drove to the Dead Sea spa 5km away for a fun float, sulpur shower and mud bath. Great first time experience. This spa is much better than the beach spa's in the north of the Dead Sea - well worth the longer drive to get to, especially if you visit Masada, just south of Ein Gedi.
Great location for visiting Masada. Included visit to Dead Sea Spa which is a short drive away. Swimming was good for the children - pool and changing area a little dated. Dinner at the restaurant was NIS 110 so we ate the bar instead. A bit cheaper and lots of food. Room was fine, big TV but not loads of space.
The property had nice gardens. However, this did not make up for the small rooms and the lack of amenities. The grounds are very run-down. The check-in process is unorganized (I was given the wrong information and it was not corrected until the next day--causing BIG problems). There was little for kids to do, despite the high extra cost of having children in the room (the children's room is closed, the golf doesn't work, the pool has very limited hours, and the rest of the campus is not open to children). Overall, disappointing and overpriced.
Overall I enjoyed Ein Gedi more than than Ein Bokek. It was more relaxed and natural. However the amenities are not as luxurious and there are bugs: spiders and cockroaches in the room. It's part of being in a garden atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast were good, no complaints. We would have liked more time to visit the garden and Ein Gedi park but sadly traffic through Jerusalem meant we arrived later than planned. I also enjoyed the Dead Sea mud. Again the "spa" wasn't as luxurious as the south end, but rustic and less touristy.
Had "complimentary" access to Dead Sea spa except check in is 3pm and essentially spa closing down at 3:30. If go for opening, 9 am, they actually don't start actually providing any services until 10am (and check is 11 am) - so not able to use and condition of spa needs some TLC to say it nicely. Hotel was quiet yet we were put in their older rooms needing major renovations (cracks in ceiling and walls, worn and dirty looking, old sheets and beds). Bed was full of dirt and crumbs. Indoor pool was dirty and outdoor pool was closed. Positives: the staff are super friendly and the restaurants and great food (including the morning breakfast)
Nature and the fact that it is a kibbutz and its history
