Topnotch Resort

Not the Topnotch that we remembered. We realize that the industry has been heavily impacted by the pandemic, but our overall experience was not as we had hoped based on past experiences. It was a good value for the room in the off-season. The room was nice & the beds were very comfortable. We weren't notified of any of the services or amenities when we arrived. The front desk staff was adequate, but not overly friendly or informative. Some of our disappointment was due to the other guests. The spa relaxation lounge was very noisy with a large group, and others brought their very young children in there as well. Having young children in the pools and hot tubs was dusruptive and not at all conducive to a relaxing spa environment. Note that children are permitted in the indoor pool and hot tub all year long as well as the heated outdoor pool and hot tub when the main outdoor pool is closed. The pools and hot tubs were also in need of repair and cleaning. Children running around & screaming in the restaurant was also a big deterrent to dining there. We did have a meal there & it was very good, as was the restaurant staff. We also had room service for breakfast once, which was good, but a bit cold & disappointing to have to eat out of take out containers. The restaurant was a bit overpriced. i used to stay at the old Topnotch resort. I found the new one missing a lot. First, the bar/restaurant is totally out of brand with the rest of the hotel. The hotel/spa are high-end and the restaurant bar is like something out of a college - targeted to young people and very loud. There are no common areas in to sit. If you are a family and need common area there is nowhere to go because the restaurant is loud. No waters in the rooms! The waiting area in the spa was unkempt and all the magazines were old. and the showers in the spa definitely need replacing, I found it wanting.

1. Temp. control does not work (heat does not stop when set temp is reached) 2. TV is 20 years old, no "smart TV", no good programs. 3. Hotel charges guests $20 to access sauna, etc. 4. Hotel tried to charge $35/day resort fee at checkout even though it was supposedly included (I double checked prior).

We enjoyed the ease of the hotel. The staff was very helpful and the pool and spa was perfect after a cold day at Stowe Mtn. We will definitely return!

The hotel managers were rude and inflexible even though we had to stay a few nights less they still would not consider our special situation. The hotel was full of mud in the entrance and the rooms are old and noisy.

Great place to stay for skiing. Nice staff and well organized. Great spa and gym. Beds are small and one of the 2 restaurants was closed limiting options.

Our room smelled and still had cleaning supplies in it. They also charged us &100/day for our pet fir a total of $400 for the stay. There is conflicting info regarding these fees and most properties charge that for an entire stay. Additionally the service in Flannel dining room was extremely slow.
