Grand Hyatt Washington

My boyfriend and I got into DC fairly late on Friday and checked into our hotel. The front desk person was very sweet and got us checked in quickly. Once we got to the hotel room, I went to the restroom to discover that someone had not flushed (it honestly looked like green tea bags...) and pubic hair on the toilet seat. Horrified, we grabbed our bags and ran down to the lobby where we showed the same front desk person a picture of what we discovered and asked for a different room. We were given an upgrade to a King room from our queen. The King room at first didn't seem as dirty as what we discovered in the first room. However, there were definitely some issues. First, there were multiple hairs in the bathroom that didn't belong to my us (there was a long red curly strand of hair on the shelf that contained the tissues in the bathroom; two hairs in the bathtub before either of us went in; a hair on the ceiling of the bathtub area). Additionally, on our way out on Sunday, we did a quick check of the room to make sure that we didn't forget anything, we found a pair of glasses (that didn't belong to us) on the floor in between the bed and the nightstand. The hotel is beautiful when you first enter, but the rooms are pretty dirty and very dated.

I expected the standard amenities in the room, as shown on the website. We did not have a microwave and the refrigerator was actually a cooler. There was no foot stool and the water in the room was $3.00 a bottle, if opened. To matters worse, the soda machine down the hallway was empty We have stayed in less fancy hotels with more more comfortable rooms and free water. Overall, I will still recommend them. Just don’t expect too much.

We loved this hotel! It was our first time staying in DC since we moved to the East Coast(VA) from the PNW. It’s a beautiful hotel to begin with, with clean, comfortable and affordable rooms.(off season). The hotel has a direct metro entrance which is AMAZING! No walking in the rain or dealing with a bunch of people trying to get to the metro. The restraint “Cure” was great as well. This will definitely be “our hotel” from now in! It’s centered in a great part of DC close to a bunch of things we enjoyed seeing.

Great location, great rooms, beautiful hotel and a very corteous staff.

Excellent location, easy access to museums and national mall. Garage is under the building ,easy parking. Breakfast is ok considering the price.
