Very old building. Neat from a historical aspect, but rooms and bathroms definately need some work. Within only a few blocks to Edward Jones Dome. Easily able to walk there. Bathroom were especially in need of an update. Staff were very friendly and helpful!

The hotel itself was a fantastic hotel, but my family didn't enjoy it. My family was upset with the fact the swimming pool closed at 5pm, billards room closed for the weekend, and the gym didn't open till 10am. They were looking forward to these things.

Talk about bygone grandeur! No breakfast facilities. Had to walk three blocks to a Starbucks. No amenities in the room whatsoever. Bring your own shampoo, etc. A really pathetic story.

This hotel is right across the street from the stadium an has parking for only $10. The room we got had 2 queen size beds which were very comfortable. The only problems we had was the cleanliness of the room. The carpet had alot of stains on it, the bathroom floor was dirty, like it hadn't been washed in awhile. And I was going to make myself a cup […] of tea in their coffee pot and when I opened the lid where the water goes, I was very disappointed. I put my finger in it and it came out very dirty. Was a nice hotel. Definitely historical. Only con was the issue with heating. Seemed to vary during the day and I didn't have much control over the settings. Others might think that hearing basketballs on the courts are annoying, but I liked it. Other than that, no major complaints. Really enjoyed my stay.

A great historic hotel that is as interesting to stay in as it is comfortable. The service and amenities were fantastic, proximity to convention center and casino was perfectly close. I'd stay here again and again.

Good location in heart of downtown. Front desk gentleman was very nice and accomodating, as I arrived about 1am. But he worked hard to make me feel welcome. Negatives: cheap curtains that fell off the rod, noise from the street, old bathroom cabinets, lack of paint on parts of the walls, space for clothes, no electrical outlet in bathroom, which caused me to find an outlet in the bedroom to use the hair dryer. Overall, a pretty good stay, I would stay again here if the price is right and it was only for a night, or two at the most. But the rooms need some work. It's an old building and it looks it. beautiful on the inside. great location in St. Louis, right next to all the downtown stuff you want to see. also right next to a metrolink stop so you can take public transport from the airport. staff was very friendly as well. I really enjoyed my stay.

I picked this hotel because of it's cheaper price than the other hotels in downtown Saint Louis. Plus alot of the reviews that I read were extremely positive. Plus, I love staying in old buildings...something about them makes me feel more at home. The bellhop came and got my luggage from the parking garage and brought it up to the hotel room!. the […] bellhop was amazing!, he even recommended a few restaurants and places to checkout while we were there, which were totally amazing! we stayed in 909...which had an amazing view of the downtown area and the arch! the room was very cozy and well kept. The hotel staff were amazing! They upgraded me for free! I love the fact that there are established guidelines for appropriate attire..it was nice walking around the hotel and seeing suits and dresses and not shirts and shorts... The Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) is a unique experience. It gives you a feel of times of the past. Its old wood work sets it apart from todays modern feel. The staff are amazing. They certainly put customer service first! The first place I have ever been where the added gratuity was rightfully earned and deserved. And, the MAC is more than just a hotel. […] There are several areas within the building that make this place very nice. They have a 2 restaurants that have great food and reasonably priced as well as 2 bars. They also have, literally, a full gym! Hence the Athletic Club part of the name. It is also down town and close to the convention center, stadiums, and the arch. The main down fall to this place is the rooms. They are a bit small and WAY old school, i.e. radiator heaters and the old box TV's from the 80's! They need to modernize the rooms and make a little bigger. One other major down side is they allow smoking in many areas of the MAC. No good for the non smoker. Over all though, a neat place. Overall the Hotel itself was very clean and employees very friendly. This hotel however is not geared for children under the age of 18. There is only one restaurant and the service was very slow. It also did not have a menu geared towards children. I would think that if a child would be staying there they would provide a menu suitable for children. […] Also it is a smoking facility and my Grand Daughter has asthma. This was not good for her! I don't believe that is stated anywhere. We did leave an item in the room and when I called them they were very kind to send it to me via first class mail. Very elegant hotel with a wide variety of choices in athletic activities. Restaurants and lounges are well appointed and the staff very friendly and professionally trained. Rooms are dated and quite small. Bathrooms will not meet expectations if your looking for luxury. Climate control systems are very difficult to operate, no instructions provided […] as well. Internet service is spotty at best, not a great choice if you need to get some business done via internet. Overall, a good experience for the price. Friendly hotel staff. Room was standard queen. Hotel has character- not the most modern but clean.

Bathrooms could use updating, but the room was nice, comfortable and clean. Great location and good service. If you're looking for a completely traditional hotel (room service, breakfast), you'd probably not be happy, but if you just need a room, it works great

The place was great nice old hotel great service great food. The bed was the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. That is 45 years of life traveling around much of the world. It was one big hole in the middle of the bed. Go to your room and check the bed.

The location was perfect - right downtown and in walking distance to the arch. The building is old,built in 1902, and has the charm that the cookie cutter motels lack. The food is very good but pricey, for example a small glass of orange juice was $3.50. Our room was not maintained, the bathroom had no shelf space and only a shower, no tub. Excellent staff, cleanness and locations is close to everything in St. Louis including train station.

Convenient location & ample parking. Room was large w/ very comfortable bed. The bathroom was beyond outdated & in dire need of an update - it was so ancient it didn't feel sanitary (shameful considering the room was so nicely appointed). The view from my room was almost laughable (opened drapes to find a huge concrete wall, no skyline, no buildings, […] nothing but wall) - thankfully I wasn't there for the view, just needed a comfy bed & the MAC delivered on that. I read reviews about the MAC from multiple places. I have come to this conclusion: It's an old building in a great part of town. My criteria: 1. It's in a safe place. 2. It's clean 3. It was beautiful and made me feel like I had stepped back in time or was visiting some place in Europe. The staff at the MAC were friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong. The location was perfect. This is an old-school private club that offers hotel rooms. The rooms haven't been updated in a while other than to add flat-panel televisions, but the value for the price was fantastic. Only 1/2 block from the Arch, two blocks from Edward Jones Dome, ten minutes from Busch Stadium. one block from MetroLink light rail direct line to the airport. The hotel itself looks very nice and has nice amenities but the rooms (I stayed on the 8th floor) need full renovation. The room itself is large enough but the bathrooms are pretty small. The room was somewhat clean but I had stayed at a Best Western the night before in South St. Louis and it was cleaner, cheaper and quieter than this place. My selection of the Missouri Athletic Club as a hotel was based solely on price and location. Boy, what a treat! Everyone was friendly, the services were unbelievable. A historic treasure in downtown St. Louis, walking distance from Busch Stadium, the Gateway Arch, and the Landing area.

My husband and I could not have asked for a more friendlier, cleaner hotel than the Missouri Athletic Club. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was located perfectly in walking distance of anything you wanted to do, ballgame, Arch, museum, shopping and dining. It was close to the City Museum and the Arch. Within adequate walking distance. The rooms were on the small side, but nicely furnished. However, it is not suitable for families with children. The windows(with 2 foot balconies) were openable, and there were no screens, so I worried about my 3 year old a lot. Had a fantastic stay at the Missouri Athletic Club. Walking distance to the casino and Landing. The restraunt in the hotel was first class and had great food. Also - the hotel personnel were helpful in providing directions to various sites within St. Louis. Would recommend to others.

Room needs to be updated greatly. It was very small and the furniture looked like it was from the 1970s. The price is reasonable but the room was very small and the bathroom, bed, and closet all looked like they cam from another decade. Located in not the nicest area but not a bad walk to Busch Stadium, the Arch, and other sites. Nice hotel with central location downtown. The building is old, but dignified and the rooms are absolutely at an acceptable standard. Many have commented that the bathrooms are old, but they are clean, they work and there is hot water in the tap – so it should not bother you if you are not overly dependent of modern facilities. Actually, it only underlines […] the theme of the hotel/ club. Be aware that there is a dress code in all restaurants; business casual is the standard. My only complaints from the stay would be a rather expensive breakfast and an extreemly unstable WiFi. The latter was extreemly anying when trying to get some work done and sending emails.
