Willowbank Hotel - Somerset Village

If you have been to Christian conference centers such as "Epworth by the Sea" in GA or "Lake Junaluska" in NC, then you will be reminded of those places when you stay at the Willowbank. Rates are very reasonable. The rooms are nice and clean and staff is very friendly. Some rooms have a GREAT ocean view and you will see a beautiful sunset on a clear […] evening. The property has its own private beach which is great for snorkeling and swimming and is next to a marina where you can rent boats & jet skis. This side of the island has very calm waters and if you bring a mask and snorkel you can float along in knee-deep water right next to the shore and see lots of pretty fish. If you rent a boat or jet skis you can go out to the wreck of the Vixen, which you can see from the hotel. There is an island called Daniel's Head off the point to your right. Look just slightly to the left of the island and you can see the bow of the Vixen sticking up out of the water. There are TONS of fish around the Vixen. But be careful - It's close to the channel and tides are swift there so make sure you're a good swimmer and/or have a good boat captain to drop you off on one side and pick up up on the other after you float over the wreck. The hotel has a delicious full breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and full dinner. They offer non-alcoholic drinks for purchase at dinner (along with the usual tea, coffee, etc). You can purchase various meal plans. The bar-b-que on Thursday is very popular. A pastor is on duty and holds a Bible study each morning after breakfast for those who would like to attend. There is a bus stop in front of the property. Buses run all over the island and connect with ferries (going to Hamilton & St. Georges) at the Royal Naval Dockyard. There is no grocery store or restaurant nearby but there are several within a few bus stops. Make plans to visit Royal Naval Dockyard (30 minutes by bus). The staff was very nice. The hotel is very old, don't have TV's in the rooms and dirty. No alcoholic beverages are allowed outside of your room. The guest all seem to be one step away from life support. There are 2 beaches on the property one is the size of my Tahoe the other is the size of 3 Tahoes with seaweed everywhere. We stayed away from the hotel […] from sun up to sun down. The island is only 23 miles long and the hotel is 17 miles from the airport but it takes about an hour to drive those 17 miles. This is a Christian Fellowship Resort and it was recommended to us by Hotels.com without us being informed what it was. There was no TV in the rooms (only a blank space where the TV should go, and no telephone. The resort is old and needs maintenance. There were alot of ants in the room, otherwise it was clean. There were only limited amenities. This […] is not really a resort but a place to hold a retreat. That is not why were were in Bermuda. We felt misled by hotels.com and would not stay there again. we are from atlanta and had a three night stay @ willowbank , we had a wonderful time,it was peaceful and the surroundings were good by the ocean. the people at willowbank was very hospitable. we would like to good to willowbank on our next visit.

Great surroundins. Easy to buses and ferry. In need of TLC. Camp like.

Located a little away from things, this hotel offers an execptional place to just kick back and relax. A lovely private beach to swim from, free wifi access and a breakfast that could feed you for the day!

Staff was friendly. Location was good. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Our bed was not made one day. Also, there is no housekeeping service on Sundays. We had lots of small ants in our room. However, the cost was much lower than the other hotels in the area, so it was a decent value overall.

Willowbank was exactly what it advertised to be and was the perfect place for us to relax and unwind for a few days. The bus and ferry systems were convenient, and the nearby railway trail was a nice place to stretch our legs and get into town (Somerset Village) when we wanted. My husband and I just came back from a 4-day, 3-night stay at the Willowbank Hotel in Bermuda. It was a great value, with very friendly, helpful service. We found the other guests to also be very friendly. My only disappointment was in the two on-site beaches. One had a lot of trash on it and the two available lounge chairs were ripped and frayed. The […] second, horbour-side beach was a little better, but it just had a dirty feel to it. We chose the breakfast meal plan which was well worth the additional fee. If you are looking to spend most of your day outside, exploring the beautiful islands of Bermuda without wasting most of your money on your hotel room then The Willowbank is certainly a great choice. Everybody in Bermuda (which is VERY small) knows Willowbank as the "Christian Hotel". They do not try to compel anyone to attend their services, but they usually have a visiting pastor, say Grace before meals, etc. Although the food and service are very good, and it is a beautiful location, they do not serve alcohol and do not even allow people to take […] wine or beer into the restaurant, but you can obviously have it in your room. This would probably be a very good choice if you want somewhere very quiet and secluded, to relax and read. If you want to go anywhere, it is probably best to take a bus or taxi, instead of walking - because the roads are very narrow.
