Barons CreekSide - Fredericksburg

Had a great time.Very peaceful and relaxing.The owner Daniel was very nice,felt like we had known him forever.we are planning to go again next year and stay longer.If peace and quite and lots of privacy is what you are longing for ,this is the place for you.

I loved being able to step outside my cabin and hear the trickling creek and the see ducks waddling past the front steps. It was also very close to town, but you were still able to enjoy being outdoors. The cabin had a rustic, charming feel. I enjoyed our stay here very much.

Barons Creekside is series of cabins built with old timbers from Tennesee and doors and window from Switzerland. The cabins were all built within the last few years, so they all have modern appliances and everything you need. The location is on a pretty hillside just west of downtown Fredericksburg. The cabins are scattered along a manmade "creek' […] complete with fish and ducks. There is a real Texas creek bordering the property if you want to experience mud and bugs in their natural habitat. There is also a central fire pit as well as fireplaces and free firewood at the cabins. Each cabin has a porch with rockers for sitting outside and watching the stars in the evening. The porches are all stagered so that you have privacy from your neighbors. Barons Creekside had the perfect combination of charm and character for a romantic getaway. We spent 3 days and 2 nights there. While the room had 70 channels of satalite TV, we never even turned it on. We did take advantage of the big big tub and the huge comfy sofa. Our cabin was the Lucern, perhaps the smallest but plenty big enough in my opinon. The few little downsides. The bed was FIRM. VERY FIRM. My boyfriend prefers something softer. And the dorm sized fridge was the noisiest thing in the cabin, I was tempted to unplug it. If you book through hotels.com they protect your privacy and don't give your email to the owner (Daniel). When we arrived I didn't see any place to check in, so I called the number listed and Daniel said to go on up to the cabin and let ourselves in. No problem really, but an unusual arrangement. I cannot say enough about this place...what a find! We stayed in the Geneva cabin for one night and wish we'd booked at least one more. As soon as we walked in, I felt like we were in a Disney movie. The cabin was cozy and didn't really feel like a hotel at all. The cabin has a front porch with two wooden rocking chairs that's perfect to sit with a […] glass of wine and watch the creek. One of the resident kitties actually came and sat on my lap for a bit. This place was exactly what we were looking for: two miles from main street but felt like we were miles away. This is truly a bizarre place. According to the literature prominently displayed - components of the cabins came from a 250 year old farmhouse in Switzerland. There is potential here for a lot of charm as the property is pretty, and boasts friendly cats and ducks, but it looked as though it hadn't been attended to for some time - dead bugs laying around, […] lots of cobwebs and dusty floors. The furnishings were mostly comfortable and everything worked - except no cold water at the kitchen sink, no towel racks or hooks anywhere, and no place to unpack. Everything was fantastic! My husband and I went sans kids for 2 days In June (Sun-Mon) and rented out the entire Lodge. We wanted to see if it would be fit for a trip with our 4 kids for Thanksgiving (ages 3-7). It seems absolutely perfect, I won't even have to childproof anything! It was nice to go during the week as the Inn and the town weren't too […] full of other tourists. We didn't get to walk around the property as much as we would have liked, but what we did see was just perfect. I could sit on the swing over the creek all day and never get bored! Great for couples and families alike, there is plenty to do and see just at the property. It's big enough to have some quiet couple time or a BBQ with the whole family. Our only minor complaint was the bed in the Jacuzzi Master Suite wasn't very comfortable and it needed a detailed cleaning. Nothing major, my husband and I are just 'neat freaks'! Absolutely loved the location and all of the conveniences provided (kitchen, coffee/tea, satelite TV, grills, fire pits, picnic tables, peace and quiet).
