This hotel is a no frills place to lay your head. The room was average size, we had 5 (4 adults and 1 tween) in our room and it was not too crowded. The $20 per person charge for my daughter and her boyfriend was a little excessive but free wifi and parking made up for that. "It's a perfectly fine hotel, but..."
If you're asking about one broad rating segment, it's always going to do fine. It's in a prime location, it's a safe part of town; the place where they film Extra is walking distance away, so if you're in LA to see celebrities, it is trivially easy to do from here. The room I got was nice and cool; there was an air conditioner but I never needed to […] use it. The front desk was very helpful when I asked for help. But there's a reason why the overall rating is lower than the subcategories. It's less than the sum of its parts. Nobody told me going in that the refrigerator in my room was unplugged; it took me two, three days to figure that out, which was unfortunate, because I had cheese to deliver to a friend. The water in the shower is hot, which is great... but I had difficulty in getting COLD water, which I actually needed due to a sunburn. The parking lot is the biggest issue. The parking lot is just a single row of parking spaces in an alley in the back, and it's shared with the restaurant next door. There are poles and beams every couple spaces, and unless you've got two consecutive open spaces, it is a harrowing experience trying to get your car into one without hitting anything. If you're unlucky, it may not even be possible. The place was fine for a single vacationer like me who doesn't need much beyond a TV and a bed, and it's relatively affordable given the prime location. "Good location, right price!"
We were visiting L.A. for the first time on vacation. This hotel was great for the price. It is very close to The Grove (a retail shopping center similar to a mall but the entrances are all outdoors), the Farmer's Market, and CBS Studios where they currently tape American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, and the Price Is Right, among other shows. The parking […] is free, although the spaces are a bit tight. We never were without a space though. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There were no decorations at all. Just the essentials. The bathroom and the TV were both up to date and decent in size. There were three of us in the room, but room service never gave us more than 2 towel sets. However, when we asked at the front desk, they always provided. The hotel front desk was courteous. I felt safe in the neighborhood. Another reviewer commented that the alley where you park felt unsafe, but I thought it was fine. The back door from the alley was always locked at night(Someone had commented that this was unsecured during their stay.). Because of the price, I would definitely stay again if I returned to the area. The personnel were great; they stored our five bags for seven hours after our check out so that we could continue sight-seeing before our evening flight out. They are delightful, helpful people. I thought the bathroom/vanity area upgrades were very good. The bed was very comfortable. I liked the amenities provided, except a real coffee mug and more than one packet of sweetener would be better. "Reasonable hotel in good location"
This hotel was surprisingly nice. The rooms are pretty big. Everything was older, but clean and comfortable, They have a dressing area with shelf beside the bathroom, this would make it easier for couples ot get ready in the morning. The bad part is that it is right on a busy street. My first night it was very noisy. I asked the next morning to switch […] to a room on the back side and they took care of it right away with no problem. The room on the alley side was much quieter. The location is excellent, close to the tar pit museum, the museum of art, farmer's market and grove shopping center. There are also lots of good restaurants nearby. "if you're on a budget, not bad"
clean hotel that's stuck in the 70's. Exceptionally pleasant staff (why can't all hotels have such nice people?). Old hotel. Barebones amenities. Noisy (even though I was on the back side of the building away from the road). Parking...a definite plus. If I was on my own dime, I'd stay again. If I'm on the company card...
