"Low quality, over priced."
Surface coating on shower wall is peeling, paint on wall of shower is bubbling, and door frame to shower cracked. Most disappointing was the tub which hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. The medium tan soup scum build up covered half the tub and was clearly visible. I arrived late (around midnight), but the hotel barely has enough parking for guests. […] This was partially due to 11 parking spots being taken up by 2 semi trucks, a very large construction truck, and one spot for someone's ATV trailer. There was also 8 to 10 pieces of clothing hanging on a trail to dry in the sun in the back corner of the hotel. You definitely don't see that at better quality hotels. The $100 charge per night is purely based on the prime location on University Ave. The quality of the hotel merits a charge of $50 a night. I was offered a discount on my next stay, but there won't be a repeat visit. I booked the hotel a little over 24 hours in advance, which was not early enough to have better options available. "You get what you pay for"
The room was adequate but the shower was beyond acceptable use. It was clean but cracked and spackled over in numerous places. The carpet had a grimy feel that required the use of sandals the entire time. AC/Heating unit was a joke -- we were sweating the first night even with it set on Cool and 64 degrees and an outside temp in the 50's. just wanted the fan to run to circulate air -- when reported to the desk the next morning, the maintenance man couldn't figure out how to turn the fan on and tried to tell me that the AC was designed to not run if it […] was cool outside -- I had to explain to him that the AC compressor had nothing to do with the fan not running when I took it off auto and set it to low or high speed. Finally got the manager to show up with an operating manual and they figured out how to turn the fan on....but couldn't turn it back off. "Will not stay there again! Foul rooms, staff, food"
Arrived for a one-night stay, on a Saturday. Upon arrival in the lobby, there was no one there, just a sign that "We'll be back shortly". Which someone did arrive back in about five minutes. Was provided my room, walked in, and was overwhelmed with an AWFUL smell! Could not tell if it was 'feet', mold, etc; just a rank awful smell. It's dispicable that […] any maid walked out, and thought that any customer would accept that smell! Called the attendant, and got a new room. Sunday morning, went down to the continental breakfast. My friend picked up a bagel, and found mold in it. I went to get a bowl of cereal, and found the bowls to hold about 4 ounces of cereal! Asked the front desk attendant if this was all they had. He acknowledged 'Yes', and that even he has to eat at least three bowls to get an adequate serving of cereal. I stated, "Wow, wish I'd brought my own bowl...". He then insults me by saying, "Yeah, there's starving children in the world!". Seriously, what the heck is that about!? I asked for a complaint form, and he conveniently fumbled around for five minutes, and "couldn't find one anywhere"!? Contact the manager later, who gave me a bunch of run-around nonsense, and said he wouldn't do anything. Called their corporate office, and got my money back. I stayed in this hotel with my family for my new student conference for my enrollment at Texas a&m and I really liked it. It had good ac, nice room. Good space. It had free breakfast and a pool I would totally recommend it. It was super close to the university and the mall. I liked it. Room wreaked of baby powder, so much that it was overwhelming. Gave us headaches everytime we cane into the room. The bathtub was painted over and falling apart. The free breakfest basically contained junkfood with no fruit. The Waffles and bagels were good, but really the only options. Staff was friendly and nice but the conditions of the room and […] the awful smell are not worth whatever price you pay. "Just OK"
The best thing I can say about this hotel is that the location is close to A&M campus. When we arrived there was no one in the office to check us in, it was close to 30 mins. before the clerk came back. During that wait another hotel guest came in with a problem that their bathroom door was closed and locked. With 4 girls staying in that room that was […] a really big problem. So we were both waiting and waiting, finally I had my spouse go to their room to see if we could help. After that another group came in and had to wait too. I can't say the clerk wasn't doing his job because when he came in he was sweating and somewhat overwhelmed. We had 4 in our room but only had 3 towels. The beds were fine but the carpet was dirty enough to turn the bottom of my feet brown after getting out of the shower and walking around while getting dressed. Overall the hotel isn't bad it just needs some basic real cleaning and maintenance and more staff in the evening . Not awful, not great - If you are staying overnight don't expect too much. Our hotel stay was ok. The location was very convenient for the purpose of our trip which was to visit Texas A&M. But the traffic noise was very loud in our room. I would recommend earplugs. The beds were also pretty soft, not good for bad backs. The hotel room was clean. Breakfast was continental style, doughnuts, cereal, apples, oranges, coffee, juice […] and milk. They did have waffles and oatmeal that you could fix yourself if you wanted something hot. Service was friendly. For the price, I think I would take my chances and try another hotel next time. This hotel is close to our child's home while she is at school. It was very clean and neat in our room. The pillows leave a lot to be desired though, bring your own if you can. They are lumpy. "Nice Hotel, Bad Beds"
The hotel and staff were all very nice. The breakfast was good. Unfortunately, the beds were the softest beds I think I have been on in years--very, very uncomfortable.
