Ston Easton Park - Somerset (oblasť)

This was our third stay at Ston Easton. We have always found the hotel staff professional and friendly, and the hotel an excellent base for visiting the Area around Bath, Wells and the Somerset coast. We were worried that the recent issues with the Von Essen chain might impact the hotel - but if anything the expereince seemed better than ever! We were […] upgraded to a Deluxe room (Blue) which overlooked the river and valley at the rear of the hotel. The room was spacious, well furnished, clean and very comfortable. The issue when the lights fused was dealt with very quickly and efficiently whilst we were at breakfast. The inclusive breakfast was excellent - this must surely rate as one of the best full English breakfasts in the country! Not a speck of grease on the plate of locally sourced, wonderful quality food. The public rooms are beautiful and very well manitained. The hotel was moderately busy, but we never felt crowded. There are some lovely walks in the grounds, and Oscar the spaniel is always willing to keep you company. We really had a lovely time, and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel. I understand that the future of the hotel is still up in the air at the moment, but I can only hope that whoever eventually takes control does not change a thing, just investing reguarly to keep the standards up (a general Von Essen failure!). This is the second time we have stayed here. This time we took friends for a special celebration and were nervious that it would not be as good the second time, we needn't have been concerned. The staff were so friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, this extended to contact with the hotel prior to staying there as we were able to book […] specific rooms by phoning even though we had booked iniially via the internet. The restaurant is fantasic and the food and service could not be faulted in any way. The hotel is not cheap but you certainly get great value, I would have no hesitation in recommending it and this is based on a couple of visits spread 4 years apart. Our stay here was absolutely perfect. This is the quintessential country house hotel. It is an experience not to be missed. For one night you can live like the the lord of the manor. Elegant , sophisticated but not stuffy.

This is a unique place. It is very quiet and relaxing, not the busy-luxury-resort type of place many similar houses have been turned into. The park is simply wonderful and kept much as designed in the 18thC, with the river, the cottage and all the flowers, a fantastic place for children to explore.
