"not the best, but faaar from worst - Recommended"
I was very satisfied w/ everything about this hotel at this cost - location, cleanliness, atmosphere, hotel staff, the grounds and best of all - the continental b'fast was superb. even the eating room itself was nicely laid out, with a nice view of the landscaping surrounding the pool, and tables plenty big for groups, or small enough for individuals/couples. […] and they had everything you'd want, including make-your-own-waffles! Only reason I give it 4 stars is the beds weren't Queens (they made this known, I'm just sayin'). I'd stay there again. Room was clean but had a mouldy smell (air conditioner??)
People who work at hotel were very nice but it was a terrible experience to stay at a place like that. Hotel was dirty!!! They should close down that place. Place like that brings down the quality of the best western hotels.

It's convenient to downtown without the downtown price. It's close to good eats and the Interstate.

The room was nice and comfortable and the services are good, although we got bugbite quiet a bit, I recommend those green pillow GOT TO GO because I know they never been wash or steam clean. Please be aware of those pillow, the rest of the sheet are OK.

We participated in the Cooper River Bridge Race and booked our accommodation at the Best Western. The room was very clean and comfortable. Because the race was delayed by more than an hour, be were late in getting back to the hotel to check out. I explained the situation to the clerk at the front desk. She was very courteous and allowed us to check […] out at 1pm. It is a great location (approx. 15 minutes from downtown Charleston) and close to many attractions and restaurants. The people at the hotel were very friendly and courteous. The condition of the hotel room was that it was not clean, floor was not vacuumed, one of the beds was not made and chain on the next room was broken.

"Best Western Sweetgrass Inn"
The free breakfast was average. It is an older hotel, but was pretty clean. It is a good hotel for the price. The sink had some issues draining, and I always prefer hotels where you enter your room from an inside hallway. People were always smoking on the outside and we had to walk through it to get to our non smoking room.

When asked staff for directions to supermarkets in the area and parks, playgrounds nearby was given information and even gave me directions to get to certain places and back to the hotel. Great service.

stayed one night, on our way to cruise out of charleston. i liked the location, i liked the breakfast and all staff very nice. very helpful. kmart across the street was very convenient. price was good. would definately return to this best western sweetgrass inn.

"Loved the place!"
We stayed for a quick visit, but ended up deciding this would be the hotel of choice when we visit Charleston. The staff during the day was EXCELLENT! Ja'Na was so helpful and kind. I only gave hotel service 4 stars because the staff member at night was below par when we checked in. "Didn't have it together."
Although the staff was friendly, they just didn't have it together. First I was sent to a room where the bathroom shower tiles had been removed and strewn all over the floor. The front desk then sent one with a set of keys to a different room. He directed me to go upstairs to find the room but it turns out it was upstairs of a different building. Friendly and helpful staff, room was clean (except the coffe maker which was dusty and dry coffe stains) convenient location close to downtown, malls and a movie theater. The location was perfect to go see the Lights at James Island. The hotel was close to our destination, desk personnel were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and adequate for our needs.

Our family lives a little over an 1.5 hour away and decided to take a one day trip after Christmas. We know the location and feel perfectly safe here. Some have mentioned the hotel being around dealerships. It is, this just means it is quiet at night when business slows down. If this creeps you out, then maybe not your spot. Plenty of restaurants near […] by, one bbq place is within walking distance. Hotel is well maintained and offers everything you are used to from Best Western. Downtown is 10-15 further depending on traffic but it is an easy ride and I'd rather spent my $$ on other things. Be sure to check out California Dreaming for dinner(make reservations) Children's Muesum on Ann St , Glazed if you like donuts within walking distance from the Children's Muesum and Fire Museum for any wannabe fire kids in your family. This is the worst Best Western that I have ever stayed at. It looks exactly like a motel 6 but with a nice bed. The place was unbearable to sleep if you are a non smoker.

Hotel on main 17 into Charleston so good and quick journey. There is also a bus (CARTA 30) that gets you in and out for about $1.75. Easy drive to Citadell Mal and Magnolia, Drayton plantations. "Best Western Sweetgrass Inn-Sept 2011"
The hotel is 15mins drive from the main street in Charleston, there are gas stations, fast food shops and stores all close by. The staff were all friendly and happy to assist if required. The breakfast was sufficient, cereal, waffles and more. Has a small fridge, m/wave and coffee maker, but not a kitchenette. Linen and towels appeared clean.The room […] did have a muggy smell, but it was not bad, just due to no opening windows. My only gripe, the a/c is near the bed, a bit loud for my liking, but that is my being fussy and i simply switched it off. Yes, i would recommend the hotel. Front desk staff and breakfast staff were great. Furniture in room is scarred and needs replacing. Regular old style TV. Bring your own soap - theirs sucks. Surrounding area (esp behind hotel) not good, but there are a couple of good restaurants in area. Is convenient to shopping and restaurants and near downtown and sites. Hotel was full of construction […] workers and old folks who stood outside their rooms in groups to smoke and talk late into the night when we were there, so not conducive to restful sleep. "Not the best neighborhood, but decent location"
This hotel is off a busy thoroughfare about 5 minutes from Downtown Charleston. It's mostly a heavy commecial/car dealership area, so the surrounding area isn't particularly great, but not terrible. The hotel staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, I've never gotten such service at even the 4-star hotels before, and one of the main reasons why […] I would stay here again. The room itself was in reasonable shape, except there was a bit of a humidity problem until we turned the AC to max and let it run for a few hours. This hotel is pet friendly, but apparently they pet owners have no responsibility other than paying their pet fee. The people in the room next to ours brought a dog, and left it unattended all evening. It barked from 10 pm to 3 am. When we called the front desk to complain, we were told there was nothing they could do. The guests were out, and they […] had paid their pet deposit, so the dog was allowed to be there. The next day, the dog was left alone again and barked all afternoon. After being told again that there was nothing they could do because the guests paid their pet fee, we cancelled our last night and changed hotels. I hope that pet fee covered their lost business. "Could have been worse"
We ended up here when our Charleston hotel didn't honor our reservation. This is the only place we could find on a Saturday night in our price range. The staff was EXTREMELY nice and accommodating. The room had outside doors, which we don't like. And it was a handicapped room since that was all that was left, so it was cramped and a bit uncomfortable. […] But it was clean. Breakfast was actually one of the best "continentals" on our entire trip. And the town of Summerville, right down the road, was a pleasant bonus. It was so pleasant to arrive to this hotel easy to find, lemon water in reception and check in and check out a breeze. We arrived at night so I didn t see the well kept areas around the hotel such as the pool until morning when I was conveniently washing clothes and enjoying a cup of coffee. great breakfast. Staff was very nice, room was clean and cool when we checked in. TV wasn't working and they sent a man right away to fix it - very nice!
Hotel location was great but room itself was a lot smaller than we expected. It was very pricey for what we got but it was nice to get away for a long weekend. Not sure if I would stay there again.

Pool is large and was great fun for my children, breakfast was great and you can have it outside or enjoy air conditioning inside. There is a business center with brand new HP multifunction scanner printer and bedrooms are what you can expect for this standard of hotel. I reserved my room the night before. It was the last room available in the Charleston area. American Idol auditions and a golf tournament were in town.I was not expecting a spacious poolside view room at all. I was impressed with the polite staff and cleaniless of the hotel.
