Hotels are mainly about sleeping for me, and I slept really well here. I am very tall, which is often a problem. Not only was the bed big, but the mattress was good quality. I wasn't thrilled about the neighborhood, but Copenhagen is small and I didn't have to walk far to get away from the cheezy pedestrian mall to find what I wanted. One thing that annoyed me upon arrival was being asked for my credit card info again, including PIN, which I never use and therefore didn't know. I ended up swiping my ATM card as some sort of security measure, which I found insulting. Positive: Good location next to shopping street (Stroget). Good service. Negative: Maintenance outside, bad smell in the room and a bit worn down/outdated.

An old charming hotel with good service and staff members giving good recommendations about places to visit and not at least about good restaurants. However, a near by party place open all night, made it very difficult to sleep all night. With all the good hotel alternatives in Copenhagen I would recommend to look at other alternatives first.

Had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was over too early (9am). The street in front of the hotel is under construction. But otherwise, the room was nice, and the hotel swell maintained. Location is not far from the train station and near the tourist center. Would stay in that hotel again.

Really nice hotel and couldn't be more central - right next to the square and the walking streets. The street side room I was in was noisy - mostly because of the massive road works and square construction project. I always have ear plugs so no big deal. Staff really nice and helpful! Lots to recommend it!

Used to be one of the top 3 hotels in Copenhagen. Sadly no investments have been made for years. Two examples that proves that the Hotel is not worthy of a business man's time 1) Only one PC available in the lobby which is mostly used for the staff's amusement and it is shut down at 8 pm and 2) No CNN, SKY or international news channel available. location is Great > they have a very cool patio > free BEER and soft drinks.....but the rooms are small, but is Europe, so if searching ....i would pick this one again :)

We enjoyed all aspects of this hotel. However, because of the construction at Town hall square, the noise kept us awake most nights.

Overall I was very satisfied with this hotel, especially pleased with the central location and convenience to public transport. The elevator did not work for one day of my stay but my room on the fifth floor was spacious, airy and in good condition.

Conveniently located, with a very accommodating staff. Quite comfortable rooms, public areas, etc. Only one warning: if you have a car and don't have a chipped card, this area is impossible. Unfriendly and unhelpful staff, and my room is old style without air conditioning. Good location, 1 mile from the central station. I would not recommend this hotel based on my overall experience.

All in all, a good hotel for a good price. Great location, lack of air conditioning in summer a minus, although the fan in the room helped. Above average breakfast buffet was included in our offer.

I arrived at the First Hotel Kong Frederik expecting a big and comfy room for my week in Copenhagen. I was disappointed to find a tiny bed (smaller than twin?) in my room; at first I thought it was just the couch, and there must be another room. Nope! When I first arrived the bathroom drain backed up and got toothpaste water all over the floor; they were quick to change me to a different room. Fabulously decorated modern room. Terrific reception staff. However, "room service" from their "restaurant" beyond limited; they might as well not offer it. Two options: meat or cheese sandwich - no sides, no salads, no custom service.

The location of the First Hotel Kong Frederik is superb. In walking distance to all the sites. If you're going in the summer (I was there July 7th-10th) keep in mind there is no air conditioning (most hotels there don't have A/C). If you like it cool at night and noise won't be an issue for you, get a room facing the street. That way you'll have a lot […] of windows to open up. Otherwise, the other rooms are nice and quiet. It so happened that our 2 nights stay were on Friday and Saturday. Youngsters leaving the venue across the street were noisy throughout the night until 5AM. Otherwise, this is a good hotel to stay.

Prior to our stay during June 2011 with First Hotel Kong Frederik I emailed the hotel at the end of April for parking options since they do not have an onsite garage. I received a response to my email quickly with the park house address. They suggested to drive to their location first, check-in, and pickup a map they having showing a detailed route […] to the garage. The only MAJOR problem was that they did not mention the street the hotel is located on is under construction and completely closed to cars at various points. My husband had to finally stop at one of the dead ends so that I could walk the remaining blocks to the hotel to pick-up the map. I understand it may be possible the road was not under construction when I emailed the hotel for directions originally. If that was the case it would have been extremely helpful to receive an updated email from them since driving directly to their hotel was extremely challenging if not impossible all together. Not to mention the added stress of driving in an unknown area in our new car that we had literally picked up from the factory in Sweden that same morning. Once at the hotel it’s location was an easy walk to the main tourist sites and harbor. The bedding was fantastic meeting my preference for soft and plush, as were the towels. We stayed at 4 different 4 star hotels during a two week vacation and the First Hotel Kong Frederik’s bed was the most comfortable! The room was a little warm before the sunset without air conditioning in June however, there was a small fan in the room which made sleeping easier. We had a room facing the street / outside rather than the courtyard. You deal with the street noise, which wasn’t bad with only cars going by in the AM and quiet at night, but a nice breeze came off the street helping cool down the room in the evenings. I stayed here for 2 nights and will stay again, only concerns are the lack of air conditioning and the noise from the bells chiming every hour.

Could definately do with tea/coffee making facilities or complementary mineral water as a minimum. as I checked in late and wanted a drink and everything is shut down only tapwater available... reception staff are polite.

With its dark grey walls and elegant, large lobby the hotel has something Dickinsonian about it. It is quiet (at least room 409 is) and has a nice, large, bright meeting area with comfortable seating and free capuccino machine. the only gripe I have is the non-functioning wifi (but it worked for some others in the hotel, i hear ) and bed bugs, which […] really made for an uncomfortable night (and painful one). I have stayed in this hotel twice over 10 years. Most recently, it was pleasantly upgraded, with a great aesthetic appeal that only adds to its great location and convenient features. The front desk staff is absolutely fantastic. They are congenial, helpful and friendly. The limitations came in other aspects of service. The room cleaning staff were […] keen to find "short cuts". Though our room was empty before noon daily, they failed to clean the room twice consecutively. Our only solution, upon complaining, was to move to a clean room. The staff in the bar and restaurant were either over-worked and/or poorly trained. After having had drinks at the bar, my partner was asked to "prove" that he was staying at the hotel. The previous night, I was not asked the same. The difference? I am tall, white and blonde; he is dark-skinned. Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe not. Either way, it's not acceptable in a high end business or luxury hotel for anyone to have to "prove" that you are staying in the hotel to put $20 of drinks on your room tab. So, this is a mixed review. Lots of things go for this hotel: it really is an excellent priced luxury hotel. Lots against: questionable service at the "back end". We stayed 2 nights for combination business and pleasure. Hotel staff allowed us to check in at 9 a.m. after flying a red-eye from the East Coast (USA) to Copenhagen. They noted on check in that the room minibar was free (beer, soda, and peanuts) and that there was free coffee in the lobby (a make-to-order Nespresso machine with at least 6 choices, […] including decaffenated). Wonderful treats. Only regret was that coffee wasn't available at 4 a.m. when we left for the airport on our final day. Hotel staff was delightful in recommending local restaurants (away from the tourists), and giving directions to local attractions. The hotel is located across the street from Tivoli which was closed for the season and around the corner from one end of the Stroget. Excellent location. Breakfast was wonderful. The common area/lobby was beautiful and the rooms were very nicely decorated. The beds are very comfortable. Large rooms for European hotel. this hotel ticks all the improtant boxes, clean, a good breakfast and pleasent helpful staff, and they rent bikes which in Copenhagan is a big plus!

Fint ophold på et udmærket cityhotel, som desværre bliver overskygget af de manglende parkeringsmuligheder

Det som gjorde oppholdet dårlig, var rommet vi fikk. Vi fikk et rom i første etasje, "utsikt" mot bakgården, rett utenfor hotellets enorme ventilasjonsanlegg, som bråket noe forferdelig. Rommet egnet seg ikke for overnatting for flere netter. Burde kun vært tillatt leid ut til de som skal ligge 1 natt . Vi lå der i 3 natter- forsøkte å bytte rom, men […] fikk ikke dette. Frokosten var grei, men frokostsalen var liten, og det ble fort fullt, måtte vente på plass. Gratis internett, fri minibar som ble fyllt opp 1 x pr dag, fri kaffe- når maskinen fungerte- det gjorde den ikke hele tiden.. Oppussing på fortau på utsiden av hotellet - gjorde at det var mye bråk og støv.
