Found the room to be nicely appointed with higher end upgrades & amenities. It was very neat and tidy - high marks for cleanliness. Staff friendly too. I was very pleased !!!

"good choice"
Room was spacious, beds very comfortable, although linens were rough in texture and quiet. Breakfast is the usual plastic overprocessed food, but if you stick to cold cereal, juice, fruit and coffee it is on the healthier side.
"Best in the area"
We've stayed in the OC area many times in the past 12 years, but never in a Holiday Inn. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality service and accomo given us for the reasonable cost. We were especially pleased with the do-it-yourself, serve yourself breakfast. Thought it wasn't a five-star made-to-order bkf, the food was tasty and hit the spot at […] 7:00 am after a quiet and comfortable nite's sleep. The extremely friendly and pleasant check-in clerk highly recommended the pancakes over biscuits and gravy, the omlet with lots of bacon, or the English muffins and blueberry yogurt. Of course, when I first saw the pancake machine, I thought this clerk really had low expectations of what pancakes should taste like. So the first morning, I tried all the other delicious alternatives. But on the second day, my curiosity got the best of me and I pushed the start button on the pancake machine. Would you believe that the freshly made pancakes were actually far better than you'd receive at a fundraising breakfast? Wish I had stayed another night and pushed the pancake button a few more times for a stack of six. Complimentary "Continental Plus" breakfast pancakes, etc gets my 5-star rating. The price was a little high for our budget but over all the Hotel was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly. I would stay again!!!!

"Christmas in Cali"
My boyfriend and I decided to do a Christmas vacation in Cali. We choose this hotel as we had previously stayed here in March and they had the best advertised deal for the days we were going to be in town. We really don’t require much but the staff was nice, the room clean, the breakfast hot and delicious and we didn’t have any issues with noisy neighbors. Hotel staff was courteous, helpful, and enthusiastic. Room was clean and comfortable. Hotel was pretty quiet. I liked the parking garage located under the motel. I'd stay again.

"Clean and comfortable"
Although the location was not close to the event I was attending, and a little too far out of town, the hotel is clean and comfortable and the surrounding neighborhood seems quite. The air conditioner was a little loud, and I wished that I could close the drapes for privacy, given there are apartments behind the hotel. The hotel was nice, but I was very disappointed that I requested an accessable room and was not given one. The toilet is very low and I have a hip problem. This made it a hard stay for me! reservation people did not make it clear to me that this was not an accesible room and they were all sold out! I was not happy!

The lobby, hallway and rooms had a funky and not so pleasant smell but it was so close to Newport Beach and had a reasonable rate so it was worth it. Staff was very friendly. Missed the breakfast-it only goes until 9:30.

i prefer holiday inn express when traveling, but this one was not very good. there was no thermostat, the bed had some weird plastic cover under the sheets, and i found several black hairs in various locations around the room. the room also had a weird toxic smell to it. i also didn't like that i couldn't walk into the lobby from the below ground parking […] structure. the neighborhood is not walkable for food, etc. i'm glad i was only there from midnight through 8 am. Nice looking facility that is clean and generally well-maintained. Check-in person was kind and extremely efficient. Room was very clean. Beds were pretty hard and a little uncomfortable. We could not hear the noise from the freeway or other rooms. Complimentary breakfast "buffet" was pleasant and offered in a comfortable room. The cold water on the […] faucet in the kitchenette did not work. The refrigerator woke me at about 3:00 am when it was making a loud and continuous beeping/whining noise. I unplugged it and the noise went away. We had a lovely view of the clean and well-maintained mobile home park next door. For the price we paid, I expected a slightly better experience. "Good hotel, not so great neigborhood"
The hotel looks like it was upgraded recently. The inside is relatively nice. The neighborhood doesnt look that great. Easy to get to, right on the service road for route 55.

I always go to this hotel. I love the front office staff. They always seem to have great guests, no one loud or crazy late at night and that's what I like about this place. Im getting married soon so this will be the hotel I refer my party to :)

The hotel was easily accesible from the freeway and a quick drive to Newport Beach. The room was a good size and clean and comfortable. The beds were nice and plush. The complimentary breakfast was better than average and the warm cinammon rolls were excellent. I would definately stay at this hotel again.

"Holiday Inn Express Costa Mesa"
We had a very comfortable and quiet stay in a well-appointed and clean (spacious) room with a king bed. The hotel is just inside Costa Mesa from Newport Beach, so is less expensive than any NB offering, but the quality is high. The complimentary breakfast was the standard HIE offering -- nice to have this option. Friendly desk staff, too.

Central location right off freeway. Very quiet for the location. Has all the basics clean, plasma screen TV Wet bar and refrigerator. Close to restaurants. good place to overnight but not a recreation hotel. No pool.

The room was quiet, spacious and clean. The bath tub drain was very slow, but after we informed the front desk, it was fixed immediately. The breakfast was adequate for a complimentary meal.
Easy access to the PCH and 405, Funky spot but hotel itself is outstanding for the price.

This is a newer HI express. Room was good. Internet was strong. Food was a little hidden, but fine when I found it in the morning and the staff was great.

No complaints at all - staff are very helpful, hotel is very well maintained. Walking distance to supermarket and some restaurant options. Easy access to the highway. I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.
Overall, my stay was an average hotel experience. The staff was friendly and very helpful. If you're staying here for the "breakfast buffet," then don't. It's your basic continental breakfast with a sausage patty, bacon, some kind of egg and cheese fold, with hard biscuits. The hallways and breakfast room was extremely hot...no air. "Luxorious without the expense"
I chose this hotel because the rates were the cheapest in the area. The hotel as a whole was extremely clean and check-in was speedy. The room was larger than I expected and smelled like fresh oak. The bed was one of the more comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The continental breakfast was above average with fresh-baked cinnamon rolls, cheese […] omelets, and sausage patties. The coffee was surprisingly delicious. Fresh-baked cookies were served in the lobby at 6:00pm every night. The hotel wasn't crowded, and I had a very quiet stay. My only complaints are with location as the hotel is located on a one-way street. I accidentally left something in my room and had to circle the neighborhood to get back. "Inexpensive Hotel near Newport"
Any faults I might have had with the hotel or its less-than-central location were made up by the helpfulness of the staff I encountered. I dealt with at least three different employees at different times of the day during my stay, and all were pleasant, cheerful, and most importantly, very helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay. I was there for my wedding because of the location. The manager there was such a big help. The wedding was at 3:00 pm. Check out time was 1:00 pm. She let everybody in our wedding party stay the extra time for free. I also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.

This hotel is located 10 minutes drive from Newport Beaches. The rooms are quite large, we were not bothered by noise from the road. It is a great family hotel, the garage is under the hotel which makes it very easy to access the rooms with the elevator. We also used the laundry room on our floor. We had a problem in one of our rooms, the management […] moved us to a different room right away, and we got reimbursed for the inconvenience that it caused us. "Hotel in Costa Mesa"
Everyone was very nice and helpful. We were going to a wedding in the harbor and we were not sure how long it would take to get there from the hotel and the lady at the font desk told us the time it would take and gave us directions. The breakfast was really good! Our overall stay there was amazing.

The Hotel was great and even offered complimentary breakfast. it is very close to the beach and disneyland. the only think that did not exceed expectations was the location on a oneway road which made it difficult to get to if you pass it.

My husband and I stayed here on a trip to Laguna since it was only 20 min away and the hotels in Laguna were too pricy. I chose this hotel based on other hotels.com reviews. It's about a mile off the freeway so it's very convienent. Don't expect a great view though since a trailer park is right next door. They do have underground parking which is nice. […] Our front desk clerk was friendly and seemed competent as he had our keys and reservations ready. However, we stick the key in the door and find someone else already in the room! How embarassing! The clerk appologized and said the computer showed no other guests registered to that room. He was very nice about the whole thing and quickly gave us another room. The room was spacious, clean, and very nice. Microwave, coffee maker, iron and board, hair dryer, couch were all in the room. Bed was very comfy and we had ample pillows and blankets. The next morning we had a very nice continental breakfast with cheese omlettes, sausage and bisquits, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal. Very nice!
