"Not Worth the Price"
I was shocked at the sight of the room when we checked in. The pictures on the website DO NOT at all reflect what the rooms look like. I paid over $300 a night and had a musty smelling room with no blanket on the bed and a small window with a torn window treatment. There was only one elevator and the stairwell was questionable to take as it was dark […] and grimy. The staff was helpful and courteous, for the most part....but not one person ever asked us what we thought of the place or if we were enjoying our stay. The staff at the Hotel St Marie was very helpful and friendly. The location is great - very close to all of the action in the French Quarter, but still quiet. My issues have to do with the condition of my room. The lighting was extremely dim and made it hard to read at night. Additionally, the beds were extremely old and worn - I woke up with a sore […] back after sleeping on semi-exposed springs due to excessive wear/use of the mattresses. That said, I the rate I paid was extremely reasonable, especially considering that my stay was between Jazz Fest weekends. I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who want easy access to Bourbon Street & the rest of the French Quarter. The hotel is a very short walk to all the activities but far enough that you can actually get some sleep. The staff was very friendly and the valet parking is so convenient. It was ok. Extremely overpriced and front desk staff was extremely rude. Had a friend come in a day early before checking into his own room and they brought up a cot. We were locked out of our room for almost 24 hours. The electronic key system failed (on our door) and instead of spending the evening enjoying Bourbon Street, we spent the night trying to get our door unlocked with the maintenance man. The hotel was OK. Good location, friendly staff, basic room, very basic TV, VERY small window. As I was early for check-in they said that they would call me when my room was ready, they never did. The bellman was probably the best of the bunch, very helpful and friendly. If you need a taxi, it is best to either flag one down yourself or let the bellman […] flag one down for you, when the desk calls for one, they take a long time to come and the cabs were older and in poor condition. I ate breakfast one day at the restaurant and it was terrible. Long wait, cold food, waitresses who do not refill your coffee and do not bring items that you ask for. The thing that stood out the most for me though was the fact that when I checked in, the city was having a water problem. The hotel staff DID NOT tell me that i could not drink the water, nor did they supply us with water. As there are a lot of hotels in the area, I would look elsewhere on my next trip. "Great Location, Perfect for Mardi Gras"
Had a great time here. Though we didn't spend much time in the hotel, the room itself was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the balcony was spacious and encouraging of socialization with other guests. Contains all the charm of a historic downtown hotel. Only complaint was that we ran out of toilet paper right as we were preparing to check […] out. "madri gras 2013 experience"
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We got off a long bus ride at 7am. With check in not being until 4pm the staff worked hard & got us checked in by 11am. The hotel is a great great location for partying on Bourbon St. We never had to deal with the nasty restrooms on bourbon St. We would just walk back to our room. The hotel has gated valley parking […] which made my car feel extremely safe during a crazy weekend like Madri gras. With some basic remodeling this would be a great hotel. The only negative thing I can say is that the hotel is old & has a weird old smell but nothing too much to bare though. I would definitely stay here again, especially for the convenient location. Peeling wall paper, stained carpets, badly in need of a paint job. Ice machine only on first floor, no blankets (!), very expensive coffee shop ($30 for 2 coffees and breakfast sandwiches). The hotel was awesome but one of the agents i spoke with through hotels.com was very unhelpful... She seemed to not know what i was talking about on anything and then the next agent i spoke with had no problems answering my questions. I have been to New Orleans on many occasions and try to stay in different hotels each time. This hotel will provide you with a clean, convenient place to stay in the French Quarter that is close to all must see sights. The only negative thing I have to say is the beds are very uncomfortable. It felt like I was sleeping directly on the springs. We wanted to be near Bourbon St and this was the perfect place. Not noisy from the street. The hotel interior walls were the only con.
