Had a great weekend in St. Augustine. Chose the King Size Oceanfront room with the Whirlpool Tub. The room was just as advertised and shown on the website. The only downside was the room was on the 2nd floor immediately overlooking the pool. The proximity to the walkway and the pool was less than desirable. "Disappointed, Ocean View NOT"
sought a hotel that offered ocean view rooms for an overnight stay in one of our most favorite areas of the United States, St Augustine. We were on a budget this trip so had to choose carefully, but decided to splurge one night and state at the Hampton Inn which advertised ocean view rooms. Liked the location and the look of the hotel which met our […] expectations upon arrival. However, upon entering our room my delight plummeted. What they called an ocean view was a balcony room on the 2nd floor which when seated on the balcony you can look over a parking lot then over the roof of homes to a sliver, and I mean a sliver, of the ocean in the distance. The hotel is not directly on the beach but sets back probably a 1000 ft. from the shore. Sooooo disappointed and of course they were booked solid so could not move to another room which might offer a better view (that would only happen MAYBE if you get the room on the top floor at the very NORTH corner of the hotel!). So, yes, very disappointed in this hotel as I had very specific reason for choosing it and I don't think they should be able to advertise as ocean front. We had a beachside view, which was nice; however, one bed's mattress was wornout (we kept sliding to the middle), refrigerator was very loud (unplugged it at night) and breakfast was just ok. Arrived at 4:15, several people waiting to get checked into rooms, as rooms were not ready yet. When we did finally get to our room, first thing we noted was cleaning items left in the bathroom. Additionally, cigarette butts on our ocean view balcony. Finally, when we sat on the bed we noticed it seemed very crooked. We contacted the front desk and […] they immediately came to fix the bed. However, it to just shy of an hour to fix as they had to completely disassemble the bed and fix it. This made us pressed for time for our dinner reservations. "Very nice."
I booked a jetted hotub room. It was really nice. Great access to a very wide beach. The bed was very comfy. Best coffee I had in Florida, in a hotel. Only issue I had was about 10 pm there was a fairly loud machine noise in my room and the hallway. I tried to call the front desk but they were not answering. "Close to Historic Downtown"
We loved staying at the Hampton Inn @ St. Augustine Beach, Fl. Nicole at the front desk was very friendly and we were given a lovely room with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Unfortunately, because of recent beach renovations, you couldn't walk to the water; there was a 6 foot drop off. Having stayed here before, I was really shocked. However, someone […] had created a sand slide to get down and we used that and then walked down the beach to get back up to street level. This is one of the most beautiful beaches around. The local restaurants are delicious and priced well and this hotel is a short drive to the Historic District, the Bridge of Lions and several other tourist attractions.
