"A solid hotel"
This is a solid hotel with spacious rooms. The only drawback is the highway right next door which is a little loud. We have now stayed at this hotel 3 times and each time has been wonderful! The rooms are comfortable, roomy and clean. The location is convenient to many popular areas in Dallas and is easy to get to. My family used to stay at the Westin hotel at the Galleria, but the rooms at Hyatt Place give the Westin a run for their money. Our room smelled like cigarettes, yet was supposed to be a non-smoking room. Also, my husband tried to get the adult movies turned off and they said they couldn't. You are supposed to have an interface where it's an option to turn those off. If not, you need to get a new system! Teen age boys stay in rooms unsupervised all the time, and Christian men […] travel alone and want to able to have that option! The highway noise is pretty loud. And breakfast was great, but good luck getting any on the weekends! Both times we went down there was NO food, and a LONG line of people everywhere to get food. "Keys Didn't work"
We arrived at 11:00 p.m. and were given the last room available. The keys didn't work. It took 1/2 hr for the personnel to get a master key to let us in. Still, we have no working keys for the night or the next morning. The hair dryer was broken, and the replacement that the night clerk gave me didn't work either! The facial tissue box was empty - did […] they even check the room to make sure it's ready? Our room was next to the side door and some people (kids?) banged on the door around 1:00 a.m. and even called our room to ask us to let them in! Our room was absolutely disgusting. When we walked in our couch had just the foam padding and no covers. The walls had streaks on them and housekeeping had also left the scent bomb in the middle of the floor. The hotel is also right by a large traffic highway in which yoh can hear the cars all night. "Do Not Expect to find parking"
The Hotel itself was a perfect fit for my family of 4, but the parking was difficult to say the least. The parking lot is gated but the first 2 nights that we were there the gate was left open so that guest of a party or two could park. We circled the parking lot for an hour trying to find a spot, witnessing what looked like under age drinking in the […] parking, before giving up and asking what was going on at the front desk. When I did the lady behind the counter tried to say that the hotel was full and that was why we were having trouble finding parking. Yet the next morning at 7 in the morning the parking lot was almost empty. Was it that the hotel itself was full or a couple of rooms. She also told me that if I could not find a spot it would be OK to park in the grass, fire lane, or handicap parking! We did not follow these directions but did finally find a place to park. As I said this happened on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Although the hotel was a perfect fit the parking had much to be desired. Will not be back.
