Staff couldnt have been nicer. They treated me like family!

I was a little disappointed in the location. I thought it was closer to downtown than it was. There is a bridge next to the hotel- right by the parking lot and there were homeless men sleeping under it. I thought the entire package that Comfort Inn offers at this location was very comfortable. Given the "hubbub" of downtown Charleston, I thought the opportunity to pull out of the action - even though only a few blocks - was nice and gave us a chance to regroup for further adventures. We stayed for a weekend in April at this Comfort Inn and had a great time. the trolley was right outside our door and the staff was very friendly. If you are looking to stay near the sights in Charleston this is a great choice.

Easily found on route, location on free shuttle route all around town. Room well appointed, clean, enjoyed free wi-fi, nice perk. Would stay again, and/or recommend.

When I checked, I was treated poorly by the Caucasian woman at the desk. I asked my business rate and cut me off stating I RSVP online and no changes could be made. When another colleague check in by the same woman not more than two hours ago honored her the buisness rate. I didn't make a fuss and went to my room, which was terrible. The sheets did […] not appear to be clean. I heard the elevator the whole night. Needless to say I won't be returning to this facility. I don't care how much closer it is to my destination. I was amazed at the rudeness of the front desk staff, but once I had the experience of being "waited on" by the front desk manager, I completely understood where it was coming from. I had asked the front desk clerk a question, and she was answering it; the manager interrupted her employee (who was handling the question perfectly well) and continued […] by being rude to me. She was flip and sarcastic as well. If I was her boss, she would be fired! The ladies working in the evening were extremely slow, did not wait on customers in the order they approached the counter, didn't follow through with my one simple request, etc. Very poor front desk experience except for one young lady. Very odd location nestlted between 2 larger buildings. Parking could be a problem.

Nice hotel, clean room. Very nice variety for the free breakfast. Would recommend.

Nice job on updating, room is nice. Nothing wrong. Understaffed reception. Very sloooooooooow elevator. I always wonder why people complain about such items, but now I know. The stairs were not to be used, since they do not want anyone getting inside from the outside. Luckily they guaranteed it works from inside to outside, otherwise I would have called […] the cops. Unfortunately there were some nice german tourists who spoiled all the fun by partying and drinking and talking loud in the hall - why not party in the hallway? Exactly. The people at this hotel are so nice. You just don't see hospitality like this out here in the west and it was such a nice suprise. The trolly runs right out front so you could conceiveably not have to drive the whole time you're there since the trolly runs all around downtown and the historic district. Or you can walk, it's a bit of a hike but not […] bad and there is so much to see. Just remember the stroller if you have little ones like us. There breakfast is great too, try the flavored waffles. This Hotel was far from Charleston's center. It required taking a trolley --which often resulted in a long wait. I booked there because I thought it was close to the center. If you have a car --it's fine.

This hotel is a $10 cab ride to the historic downtown area. The shuttle does not run late enough to take you back to the hotel after dinner.

If you are visiting the sights in Charleston, then look more downtown for another hotel. It's about 2 miles away from city center and while you can walk, after a while you'll take your car. There's very little parking, so at night you'll most likely have to park in the bank's lot next door. The issue is that you have to play musical cars at 8am and […] there are not enough spaces for the amount of rooms for this hotel. Ice machines are located on the 7th and 4th floors. The first didn't work and the second provides less ice than the plastic trays in my freezer. The breakfast while included was pretty sparse and like the parking, not enough tables to accommodate the guests. People would either overflow into the lobby eating off their knees or take it upstairs. Since the elevators run on southern time, expect it to take a while if you are on a top floor. The room looked like it was recently renovated, so that made the stay comfortable and made the other annoyances just that. I just wished that the tub was a little cleaner and they offered more towels. It does have a microwave and refrigerator which added to the comfort. Great value for area, out of historic center but easily accessible by free trolley. Clean, comfortable, modern, good buffet breakfast. Very comfortable beds.

Hotel is a walk from the historic area and a $10 can ride but worth the savings. Room was clean and staff was pleasant. Would recommend based on the savings.

We were not expecting much due to the fact that the price we paid was on the lower end of hotels in Charleston. However, we enjoyed the hotel very much. The free parking is limited to about 100 spaces on a first come basis. We found that we did not need to use our car. We parked it and left it for three days. There is overflow parking in the bank next […] door. The room we stayed in had been freshly updated with granite counter tops in the bath, up scale fixtures, new carpet, lamps, furniture and a flat screen TV. It was very comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was very good, with many choices. The breakfast dining area was unusually spacious and included booths. The location was acceptable for accessing the historic area. There was a complimentary shuttle which ran every half hour, or if you are energetic, it is also possible to walk to the historic area in 15-20 minutes. We walked there a few times and felt comfortable doing so, as this allowed us the opportunity to look at many old buildings on the way. We would definitely stay here again. Ďalšie informácie

Great location - the front desk is understaffed so give yourself lots of extra time to check out (only 1 clerk). Also the front staff couldn't answer any "tourist questions" - you need to go to visitor's center to get the scoop.

Just stayed one night but was very clean and nice. Location was great in Charelston, less than 5 min. from port and old town. Would highly recommend.

Great hotel in the hospital district, about a mile from the downtown area. The hotel was very nive with a decent hot breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The only negative is that parking is very limited, so I would recommend leaving your vehicle parked and taking the free trollys and buses into downtown.

We booked a quick weekend trip to Charleston, and were pleased by the price and amenities. We generally like to stay closer to the Market, but this was less than 2 miles away. The hotel was comfortable enough with free breakfast and wifi. The hotel advertises a free shuttle, which is a little misleading. The shuttle is actually run by the city and it does not go to the historic district. If you want to take free shuttles to the historic distric, you need to take two different free shuttles. I had a great bridge view outside my window, so I could see the beautiful Charleston sunrise. Right across the street from the VA hospital. Trolley stop right outside, with made getting to the Historic District that much easier! Would certainly stay here again on my next trip to Charleston!

Lovely hotel located near downtown Charleston. The free shuttle stops just next door and you are also within walking distance of downtown. The hotel was clean and quiet. What more could you ask?

We were down to visit our kids in school and found that this hotel is perfect for us. The check in and check out process was easy. The front desk folks were pleasant. The hotel was also easy to find. The room was clean and the breakfast was sufficient. The only thing I would suggest is a trash can in the bathroom.

The hotel was located in a decent area for walking to down town. If walking is not your thing then there was a trolly stop right outside the main lobby. The only complaint was the walls were kind of thin so we heard out neighbors all day and night!!!. Overall this was a good place to stay and the breakfast was very good.

Very clean and very comfortable. Pleasant staff. Not exactly in heart of old Charleston but there is a shuttle that runs til around 8 pm so it is necessary to take a taxi back but the fare is far from cost prohibitive.The breakfast included in price is not good so don't look forward to it. Not the nicest hotel in the Charleston area, but the most affordable. The hotel sits right on the free Charleston trolley system so don't worry about the location, downtown is a single trolley ride away. This hotel is not a bad option for a stay in Charleston. It is not in the historic district, but it is not far away either (maybe a mile, if that) if you have a car. Parking in Charleston is not an easy thing, but the hotel does not charge for parking, so paying the $8.00 to park all day downtown, compared to the $15.00 per day at the downtown hotels, […] again is not a bad option. You can also cab each way for about $5.00. From other reviews, I understood the hotel had gone through some renovation recently, but my impression was that the renovation was cosmetic and not thorough, and the room was okay, not great, not horrible. Breakfast was available, but not very good. I would give the hotel an overall score of 3 only because I have stayed in much pricier hotels in Charleston that were not much better. We stayed the night before Charleston at the Hilton Garden Inn in Savannah, GA, the price was about the same, the room was much nicer, and breakfast was fabulous compared to the Comfort Inn. First, the good. This hotel is very convenient to MUSC, West Ashley, and Downtown Charleston. It is very easy to get to and out of, and is less removed than the other chain hotels on Lockwood, but less expensive than the old school downtown hotels. The staff was friendly and assisted us promptly whenever we had any complaint, and the free breakfast […] was pretty awesome (waffle maker!) for the rate. However, they only had one lady working the counter on a Thursday night so it took about 20 minutes to be seen to check in. I actually booked with hotels.com while I was waiting in line. The first room we got was on the third floor, which, unbeknownst to us, is a room that's 50/50 smoking/non-smoking, and the floor with the pool. As a result, it smelled like cigarettes, chlorine, and for some reason, really cheap perfume. The room was nice and would've been fine had it not been for that Wal-Mart underbelly odor in the hallway. The front desk quickly moved us up to a different floor that didn't smell like a bar mop. That room was just fine. We had an issue with the plumbing which apparently was the fault of the previous guest, and it was addressed in minutes. Check out the next morning was quick and easy. Very close to MUSC and Roper Hospital. The breakfast featured a good variety including waffles. It is also close to downtown Charleston, but you would have to drive to get there.

The room was OK, not the most peaceful one, maybe because it was weekend and the hotel was busy but we can definitely hear people's conversation along the corridor, kids run around and housekeeping staff out of the room. The location is a little far from downtown. We decided to walk on our first day to the cruise ship port but before we got there, […] we decided to go back to the hotel as sun went down and we had long way back to the hotel in the dark. So we managed to do some sightseeing the next day, we parked our car downtown in front of the Marion park, followed by walking around the city market, the park, the historical downtown and the cruise ship port. We went back to the hotel after dinner, parking was full (it's weekend), the receptionist told us we can park our car at the bank lot next door but we need to make sure to remove our car at 7 AM. Thankfully there was a spot become available before we parked at the bank lot. Our bathroom got leaked from above, my husband went down to report it. We're told that the room above us had some plumbing problem that leaked all the way down but they were working on it. The water leaks from above spilled our toiletries and toothbrush. So, we decided to go out until they fixed the problem which they did and cleaned up the bathroom and the room nicely after. We did need to buy new toothbrush though..... The best thing out of our stay was the complimentary hot breakfast and nice cookies and refreshment which was very thoughtful. Was very happy to find this deal on hotels.com as location was great, very near downtown Charleston. Other place in the area were 2-3 times as much. Hotel had convenient and free parking and was very clean and well kept.

The hotel is right across the street from one of the hospitals of MUSC. It was clean and quiet with a good breakfast. However the heat in our room was not working and could not be fixed immediately. We were given the opportunity of changing rooms but decided not too as we had already unpacked.
