"Love being across from the marina"
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was just what we needed for the night. Very convenient to downtown and the view from our window was looking out over the marina. I'd gladly stay there again. It's great for the money.
"Disappionted"
When we booked the hotel, we did not realize that there was an older section beside the new facility. Our room was in the older facility. Rooms which were accessed by an exterior balcony were small, with no fridge or microwave. The older wing was the canine wing and we could hear whining from the room next door. We tried to have our room changed, but […] were not accomodated. The breakfast was good, but the eating room was too small to accomodate the numerous guests booked in both facilities. "La Quinta @ the Marina"
It was convenient to Charleston only by car. We had to park in Charleston, which we did twice, paying $10.00 a day @ both parking lots. Had we stayed in town we could have left our car @ the hotel and walked to a lot of sites and also used the "free" trolleys to a lot of places. The La Quinta cost was at least half the cost of a hotel in Old Town.
"Okay hotel, good location, pet-friendly"
We actually live in Charleston, but had to stay at this hotel for one night when the floors in our apartment were getting refinished, and it was a last-minute booking. We chose this particular hotel for the location (it's very close to Downtown) and the fact that it's pet-friendly (we had to bring our dog, too). The hotel is in okay condition, the room […] was fine but with few amenities (e.g. no lotion or hair conditioner in the bathroom?), the breakfast was very mediocre, even for continental. However, the people at the front desk were very polite, and FYI, for tourists, it is a very convenient location (not walkable to Downtown, but fast drive) at a reasonable price. If you're traveling with your pet, this place allows them! If you're looking for a classic Charleston experience, however, choose a place Downtown -- you won't regret that. Ďalšie informácie

"Nice value"
I stayed for one night, and it was certainly worth the value. The cost was 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of hotels in the historic district of Charleston. The cost of the taxi or shuttle ride into the city ($6 to $8) is well worth the savings. Staff was helpful and pleasant. The hotel was sold out the day I left. "Hotel for dog owner"
There are many, many dogs in the hotel. The dog owner next to our room left his dog alone in the hotel room. The dog started to bark at 8pm and stopped around 10pm whithout giving any brake. Our little son who was supposed to sleep could not get to sleep due to that. This was very unpleasant. Certainly it is not the hotels fault, but still made our […] stay kind of unpleasant. In future we will avoid to stay in La Quinta Inn. Besides that the neighbourhood was great as it is located directly at the small sailing harbour and just across the parking there is a California Dreaming bar and restaurant which is very nice to sit outside. Room #202 needs to have the mirrors changed out in the bathroom and the tub is looking like it has had a bit of wear and tear. Otherwise, good location and good value for money.

"Marina View"

"I'd describe this hotel as just "fine""
We chose this hotel as a budget way to stay near Charleston for a college visit. It was generally conveniently located, but when we wanted to go into town on an extremely busy Saturday night, we decided to take a cab ($10 there & then so difficult to get a cab home, that we ended up in a van for $20), techinically not the hotel's fault, though, I guess. […] It was a quick drive in and out of town for the rest of our stay. We stayed for two nights. As for the hotel, the staff member who checked us in was less than friendly. While our room was surprisingly comfortable, the hallway smelled like smoke (we were relieved when our room did not). The best thing about the room was the comfort of the beds (wish they had two queens instead of two doubles) for 4 people. The bathroom was not spotless. Breakfast was included, and OK, including make-your-own waffles, but with watery orange juice. On Sunday, the breakfast was served until 10 AM, but on Monday, only until 9 AM, which was unfortunate, as it was Spring Break, and many families had children. As people were still getting breakfast, it was being put away, and when the staff was questioned about breakfast closing earlier on the weekday, she was curt & said there were signs posted everywhere regarding the breakfast times (there were no signs posted in the eating area, however). The worst thing about our stay is that after we returned to our room at 5:00 PM (after being gone since 11:00 AM), the maid was in the hallway and apologized that she hadn’t cleaned our room yet, & offered to do it then. We said "no thanks", because we were going to be there for the next few hours, and didn’t want to get out of her way. It should have been cleaned earlier than 5:00. The problem with not having her clean our room, was we did not get any extra toilet paper, which we ran out of, and had to call the lobby twice and wait 30 minutes before anyone brought some up. A great location. Close to downtown. Next to a marina. Excellent restaurant on the waterfront a short walking distance from the hotel. Shuttle van from the hotel to downtown Charleston that you can use all day for one fee, driven by a very courteous and helpful driver. Plentiful breakfast provided.

The woman at the desk was extremely rule when we arrived and then again when I went down to ask her a question. The bathroom was dirty and had not been cleaned.

Great Breakfast compared to most hotels! Quiet and clean.
"Noisy"
We got one of the rooms along the highway so iy wsa very noisy all the time. Future clients should make sure they obtain a room on the other side. The name "Riverview" is exagerated because the actual river is far away. One side of the hotel actually faces a marina, whilst the other side is just along the highway.

"Old but clean"
I rented a room here because I thought it was close to downtown. Maybe as the crow flies. There is one nice restaurant within walking distance but it was packed. Nothing else close. It was on a harbor, but the room was basic. It was clean, the people were nice, and the breakfast was typical. Walls were a little thin, too.

The hotel rooms are showing their age. A good repair/cleaning would help. However, the staff was great, breakfast was good and the location is convenient as well as beautiful being in the marina/bay area.

"Good position"
Good value for the position, not walking distance to anywhere but overall good value. The shower didn't drain all that well and after a 2 minute shower the water was up around my ankles.

"Very Nice"
Rooms are very nice with rooms facing inwards. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful with a small harbor nice for a short stroll with pets. Also extremely accommodating for dogs.

Good value for money close to inner Charleston with view to the marina. Nice to have breakfast, parking and wifi included in the very reasonable rate of the room. One minus: the window in the room was punctured and should have been replaced.
"A great alternative to expensive downtown hotels."
I have to admit that I am a cheapskate. I wanted to stay in the historic district in Charleston, but I was not willing to pay $$$$ a night. This hotel is a short 5-10 minute drive to the center of town, and then you can park at the visitor's center for $10 all day. Our room rate was really reasonable, plus we had a great free breakfast. (I am a sucker […] for that waffle machine). We had a nice room overlooking the marina, very clean and maintained. So if you want to save some money, stay here and drive over to visit the historic district and spend your savings on the carriage tour or the boat to Fort Sumpter. Ďalšie informácie

Great service, excellent location outside downtown Charleston, Shuttle for a very low fee to and from Charleston which is extremely convenient, bathroom tub needs to be scrubbed well. Obviously there was some type of padding which was removed leaving the bottom looking 'black' as if it were mold. (not mold though). On signing in, lady at desk did summon […] someone to clean the tub however, it looked the same to me on entering the room and returning later in the day. "needs better customer service. Roaches."
I stayed there for 5 days. Most of the staff was very pleasant. After the third day however I had to ask to be moved due to a roach problem. They moved me without hesitation but when it came time for checkout I was not only denied an extra hour because according to the front desk they were too booked and needed the room (when I checkedI out at 12:20 […] there were no more than 5 cars in the entire parking lot , check in was at 4:00 ) . My husband and I had a great stay at LaQuinta. Our room was overlooking the beautiful marina and a short stroll to the restaurant, California Dreaming. The hotel provided a great start to the day with a continental breakfast and hotel staff were very happy to give directions to attractions and shopping. We had a wonderful time!
"Pretty Pleased!"
The room had kind of a musky smell, but it wasn't unbearable, and shower kinda sucked because it had no water pressure. Other than that me and my wife was pretty pleased with the hotel. It is in a great location, because it is not right in the middle of the chaos downtown, but it was close enough to it that it only took just a minute to get there.
