Wild Palms Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel - Sunnyvale

I have stayed here twice and their rooms are so comfy! For both times, early check-ins and late check-outs were not a problem and there was no extra charge. No hidden fees. Loved their breakfast, plenty of fresh fruit around the hotel. A cute place for a little romance without the big price tag.

Not much has changed in the past three years. When they did the decorating some years ago everything had a fresh look to it. Not so much anymore. Still better than someplace like a Days Inn but not that much better. Internet is slow. Breakfast is a couple notches better than continental.

Tech staff was clueless...

I bought this hotel when many others in the area had extremely high rates. Not as updated or fancy as hotels I usually choose, but great in a pinch! Easy access from freeways, easy to check in/out, free breakfast not much to complain about. Rooms are old no doubt, but very charasmatic. New T.V.'s would make this property an easy choice!!

This hotel is perfectly fine, as long as you can sleep on a rather firm mattress with no real padding. If you are used to a pillow-top mattress at home, you may have trouble sleeping here. I stayed four nights (couldn't switch) and finally got a few hours of sleep the last night. Otherwise, it's a nice place.

I love this hotel! My business associates and I have stayed here many many times! Reasonably priced rooms, good free breakfast and comfy rooms...a really good choice if you're traveling to SJC for business and need somewhere to relax between meetings.

My room was freezing and the heater was so loud I hated turning it on. No phone calls were possible while heater was running. Hotel key worked incosistently. Breakfast was O.K., but all paper and plastic serving products (not eco friendly). T.V. service was very limited - no lodgement. Phone didn't work. Breakfast was horrible. By the way there was construction on our floor.

Save your money and don't stay in Sunnyvale. There was nothing wrong with the hotel, but for the price the room was super small & overpriced. it's probably the neighborhood.

My business associates and I try to book the Wild Palms every time we come to the San Jose area. This hotel is great...although I do wish they would bring back the happy hour/bar.... Beds are great, staff is always nice, centrally located, and free breakfast!

Need to replace heating unit...when it turned on, it was so loud it overpowered the TV sound and we had to turn up the volume. When the unit shut off, we had to turn down the TV. That was annoying. The TV was kind of old. On the plus side, they have good breakfast selections, which is included in the room charge.

Very nice/helpful staff. One of the older hotels along El Camino. Close to Apple and HP. Weak wi-fi signal and Pub is closed.

This is the second time I have stayed here and I really like this hotel. This time though I had a cheap television in my room which was not at all like the newer flat screen I'd had in my last room. The radio and speakers were excessively old and worn and the speakers were upside down and the blind cover was off the blind and rested in the corner. Old […] things need to be consistently updated when they are worn out and items broken should be fixed or removed before new occupants come into the room. Can't really offer an in depth critique of the hotel as we only stayed one night and didn't use any of the facilities except the room. The location was great for attending an event at the Flint Center in Cupertino. The hotel was clean. I really like the layout and style. Not you standard business hotel. Great pool, hot tub, rounds and breakfast. Internet could be faster but it was useable.

The "boutique" hotel appears to me to be an old run down apartment building with a very superficial remodel. I would NEVER stay here again. They should tear this place down and start from scratch if they want to have a hotel. If they want to rent cheap apartments, they are all set!

Everything else was great!

First stay there, business stay, 2 nights, one person, in November 2011. I had a bad start. It was cold when I arrived and the room I was assigned just did not feel right (call me crazy, but I trust my intuitions). Room was noisy, had an odd layout and appeared like old with partial renovations. Room was cold (62), so I set the heater on. After 10 […] minutes, it was still blowing cold air. That was the final blow for me, I don't want it (and starts to wonder that if the entire hotel is like that, I made a huge mistake...). Went to the reception to request a new room. Initially they insisted to send me the on-site fix-it-all guy. I had to insist to get another room. I don't like to have to insist to get things sorted out, finally got a new one. From then on, everything went right. The room was clean, heated, gave me the "good vibrations" I expect when I enter. The bathroom was quite recent, with style. The bed was really comfortable. The desk & chair are good to work with. The free Internet, well as with most hotels, depends of the hours. Evening, when everybody is surfing, the thing is so slow it is not workable, I simply used my 3G hotspot. Daytime it was good. I did not use the pool, fitness centre nor had breakfast, so I can't comment here. Overall, and considering the crazy prices of Silicon Valley, the Wild Palms provide good value for the price. Clean and quiet hotel if a little worn in places. Excellent breakfast service open from 6am and convenient location for silicon valley just off el camino real and close to my favourite restaurant "the fish market". Neighbourhood is safe for jogging etc. without much traffic outside peak times.

A great place and great staff. Delicious Japanese breakfast EVERY DAY!

Nice people, breakfast and room. outlook email did not work.

Everything else was great.

TV in room had no sound. Couldn't fix. Internet service went out in morning and not restored for hours. Overall very average and add these problems, would not recommend.

My sister and I stayed on 10/15 as we were going to a concert at Shoreline Amphitheater that night. I had checked around the area for the best value and location for what we needed. I also checked the guest reviews prior to booking. We loved the decor. The rooms were clean and we think the decor is pretty cool. We loved the open air entryway and the […] murals throughout the property. It was very clean, the grounds were well maintained. The pool was clean. While the room was on the smaller side, it was still comfortable and had everything we needed. While the bed is not as soft as other places I have stayed, I still slept well. There were families that were staying. We had an upstairs room on the exterior as recommended by former guest reviews. We did not hear a thing and I am a very light sleeper. The breakfast was decent. I was actually impressed that the sausage was nicely browned and yet was not in the least bit greasy, scrambled eggs, silver dollar pancakes, 4 types of juice and cereals, assorted pastries and bagels. They also had a rice cooker with fresh, hot steamed white rice and 2 types futikaki to sprinkle on it. The had miso packets and hot water too..and Kim Chee. The desk person upon checking in acted as though we were interrupting her and the one when we checked out wasn't much better initially. I was so happy with our stay when I checked out, I just smiled and thanked her..and her tone changed. She actually smiled back and wished us a safe trip home. The lady who was in charge of the breakfast buffet was really sweet and smiling. The cleaning staff were friendly and said hello in the morning. It isn't the Hyatt or any of the other major chains or a swanky boutique property but, it was really well decorated. Tastefully done. I will stay there again when I go to my next concert. Four of us stayed at the Wild Palms for a weekend away. We attended a quilt show that was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The location of the hotel was perfect. Had dinner at the Fish Market, which we would also highly recommend. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms were very clean. Next year when we come we will request a room in the center […] of the complex. Nice place but I could not get my work email.

Webmail was fine, but I could not send/receive email from ms outlook for a client that requires vpn access.

Honestly, hotels start to feel pretty similar after awhile. These rooms are comfortable, but why do I come back? Awesome bambu lemongrass Lather bath products. The scent is relaxing and just makes a business trip a bit more bearable.

We drove down from SF to get away from the fog. The hotel was very well kept and felt comfortable and quaint. We will def visit again if ever in SV, maybe even just to stay here quietly and economically.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It was nice to stay in a hotel with bit of a difference. The rooms with two beds are a little small and the air conditioning unit is right next to the bed. The beds were clean and comfortable. There is a lovely big pool which is heated, although we never got to enjoy it. Everything was perfect except the service staff who were too loud talking in the corridor!! I was trying to sleep longer skipping the free breakfast service but this lady was LOUD like trying to kick me out of bed and out the room o she can do her cleaning job. Other than that it was an awesome hotel!

This is an example of how a hotel should be run. Clean, modern, great staff. All at a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Not bad just very very small inside is not bad but outside looks horrible. Tvs are old beds are rough bathroom is small. Pros... Great desk help friendly and good breakfest..
