Great location, friendly staff that spoke English. We were given a handicap room (not that it was requested or needed) that was large and clean. The only downside was that it had an "inside" view toward the courtyard & dome over the lounge area, rather than a street view. Plaza de Moyua gave easy access to the bus lines (including airport), metro, walking […] distance to the Guggenheim and to Old Town. "Grand hotel which does not live up to expectations"
We stayed in a totally refurbished room, which was exactly as on the pictures. Large bedroom, fancy decor, large bathroom. However, the room was not cosy - it was very glitsy and very luxurious, but lacked coziness. The common areas of the hotel are grand, but not very new. So there is a large difference between the modern luxury of the room and the […] faded luxury of the common areas. Also, there was a slight problem with noise. The windows are not very tight so you hear a little street noise (not a problem, but shouldn't be like that in a 5 star hotel). Also, you can easily hear conversations in the hallway. I didn't get a chance to test the quality of hotel service, but the way we were greeted upon arrival was not adequate for a 5 star hotel.
