"Great Location, internet not so good"
This is our second time in this hotel and we mostly enjoy staying here. If we return we will stay here because of theh convienence to downtown as we enjoy walking around town. There are some minor cosmetics that need attention but overall hotel is in pretty good shape. The advertise free internet in every room, we stayed three night and the internet […] only worked 1/2 the time. They claimed they were having problems with their provider but the computers in the lobby worked fine. They need to look into wireless in the rooms. Resturaunt has great food. "Close to Museum of History"
It was an average hotel that needs updates. The room was comfortable but didn't seem "clean". The front desk employees were not very friendly. The restaurant was nice and the employees were very outgoing.

Location = Excellent. Close to train station & local tourist sites. Room = Clean & Comfortable. Very basic. Service = Friendly & Helpful Price = Good Neighborhood = Quiet

This was my first stay at Clarion. I would definitely stay again. Staff was very helpful. Room was excellent value. Location great. Able to walk to downtown and many attractions.

"Unreliable internet"
I recently stayed here for three nights for a conference. Internet was not available in my room any of this time. There was wireless in the lobby, but it was unavailable some of the time as well. This hotel is fine (though unexceptional) if you don't need Internet access, but I wouldn't count on having internet.
"Great location"
This was a great price and awesome location, it was within walking distance of the main strip of restaurants and bars. The only compliant I had was the hallway and doors to each room slam really loudly and they are really close together. The fact that the hotel is circular is wired as well. Otherwise great choice for location and price.
"Kind of Yucky"
This hotel is pretty run-down insides and out. Office carpet, old bedspreads, crusty menus for room service. I wish we had paid the extra $20 to stay at the Sheraton. It's MUCH nicer. Great location but second rate hotel.
"Solid hotel, just a few styling quirks"
This was my second stay. I needed a functional/efficient hotel that was central to downtown. I was looking for an apartment in the area. This hotel fit that purpose perfectly. With me being design trained, I'm very sensitive to all the visual details. I like the angular/circular concept of the 60's architecture. The rooms are spacious, the carpet is […] new, everything was in very good condition, with the exception of the ice bucket (it had an clunky, 70's plastic vibe) and, oddly, the cover to the back tank of the toilet (again, 70's plastic). The other odd initial distractions are the ironing board begin right out it the main space (there are no closets), and all the paper placards covering the entire surface of the desk. Once you stow away all these random bits (ice bucket/tray, iron board, iron, placards, cheap shampoos/soaps, etc), the room quite nice. I put the bits either under the sink, in the drawers or behind the back bed. I also put a towel over the back of the toilet (details mean everything to me, and I like things to look clean and simple). One thing you can't work around is the cheap polyester comforters, as when you remove them there is no bed skirt to cover the box spring. All the plumbing worked great, the views are wonderful (ask for a high room facing downtown). It's walking distance to both the downtown restaurant & arts scene, warehouse art scene, as well as the Glennwood Avenue restaurant/club area (this is a huge plus). The lobby feels just a big awkward, but is ok (I'm being fussy here). The service was friendly and they went out of their way to help me find a good room (I looked at a few before choosing one). My room was quiet and I slept well. The air unit is in the wall below the window (no central air), but the unit seemed very new and worked well. I highly recommend for a functional hotel. If you prefer the more "heavenly bed" experience with fluffy comforters, then the Sheraton is a better choice (I have stayed at both). Kelby at the front Ďalšie informácie
"Not awful, but REALLY unimpressive."
This is a hotel that I swear keeps broken things so they can charge people for them who assume they usually work and tries to pull a fast one on people to keep them coming there. They advertise free breakfast but they only offer that one day a week. They advertise a fitness center but 2 exercise bikes and a TV with no remote does not a fitness center […] make. I'm staying a Raleigh again and I actually downgraded to a slightly less "nice" hotel because I figured I would just save the money and stay in the same quality hotel as this. "Location is great, hotel is ok"
You cant beat the location. Right downtown. The rate is rather high considering what you get, or dont get. The hotel seen like it could use an update. No flat screen tvs and only wired internet in the room. No wireless except for the lobby area. No closet in the room, just a hanging clothes area near the bathroom with an ironing board sort of just hanging […] out in the room. The parking is free. the hotel room was one of the better hotel rooms i've ever stayed in. the one complaint i have is that the drink machines didn't work. other than that, great location near downtown. very satisfactory.

My four nights at the Clarion were very comfortable. The location is good, parking easy and I'd say overall it was a good value. Next time I stay downtown it will the first place I'll check.

This hotel was priced great, the people were very attentive, the conditions were great and the location wasn't bad either. I ordered room service for breakfast, which was hot, well prepared and very prompt. The hotel was busy too, so I think they are very well run.

"Convenient but underwhelming"
Stayed here as part of a group for a wedding. This hotel is in need of some updating. Everything was just ok. Certainly not luxury. The location was wonderful and I liked being able to park in the garage and take the elevator right to my floor. The staff were helpful, and the service is what I would expect for a mid level hotel property. My stay at Clarion was okay. The room was smaller than I thought it would be but it was a okay room. The staff was nice and helpful. I would stay to this motel again if I have to.

Great price for the location. Cool architecture. The free sheltered parking is a real plus! Room was clean and comfortable. My only question is: Why no bed-skirt leaving the box spring exposed? Makes an otherwise nice room look shabby.

"Great restaurant!"
We stayed at the hotel because it was close the Museums. We enjoyed walking around the surrounding area and looking at the historical sites. We had dinner at the "Top of the Tower" restaurant and it was surprisingly very, very good! We loved the fried green tomato and sweet potato johnny cakes appetizer - Delicious! The hotel recently went to 100% non-smoking, […] but there is definitely a lingering odor of smoke that will take a while to fade. Overall, the hotel was good and we would definitely stay again! This had everything we needed but it was a little difficvery to find somewhere to eat but we found Snoopy's up the road and ate hotdogs and burgers as we did not get in until 8pm and we have 2 children who needed to eat before bed. "Good Value, Get Wireless"
I like this hotel very much...perfectly located in Raleigh and easy to find and see from a distance, given its round multi-story structure. My only complaint is the lack of wireless in the rooms. Yes, there is dial-up wireless, but it's less than convenient; you're pretty much confined to the desk where the connecting cord is situated.

"Tired"
This hotel clearly was once a fine place but it has become pretty threadbare and worn feeling. The staff however was wonderful and the location is excellent for downtown. Maybe the most indicative thing was the top floor scenic view restaurant which clearly was once a big deal in town. Now however it has zero ambiance and looks and feels like a college […] cafeteria. "Just perfect except for internet connectivity"
This hotel was almost perfect for my needs. It was clean, the staff was very helpful (but I heard some stories of misinformation. They need more education, but no one was mean.), and I liked that I had a walk every morning to the Convention Center. I got to learn about Raleigh. But...the internet connectivity reminded me of dial up or worse. The rooms […] are wired and the lobby is wireless, but I never ever got a decent connection with any sort of 21st century speed unless it was 10:30 am and I just happened to be away from my conference. "Needs complete change of management and rooms!"
In a prime location, structurally sound, but needs to have a complete redesign of rooms and baths. Currently it is a rundown motel on stilts. The staff is SLOW, rude, and either do not know or enjoy misleading guests with the directions they give. You MUST have a Garmen if you want to leave the building! We ate in the dining room a couple of times and […] waited 50 minutes to receive appetizers! There were only two tables of customers - two people per table - and both had the 50 minute wait for simple appetizers. This happened both times we ate there.
