Waterford Estates Lodge - South Bend

Hotel property is getting tired.

Staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean but plain looking. Very convenient to the Notre Dame campus. No complaints for the price.

The location to Notre Dame's campus is perfect and the breakfast was a huge plus!!!!!

It was clean and comfortable. I have a daughter who is now a Notre Dame student and this hotel was close by the campus. I expect we will be returning in the future.

This was a great place to stay as we attended the Notre Dame Spring game. The free breakfast was AWESOME and the room was nice. The only negative thing is that the walls seemed really thin. We could hear people in the next room and in the hallway, even if they were speaking at a normal level. We were up late anyway, so it didn't bother us much, but […] it could certainly ruin your stay of stuff like that bothers you. I had also read reviews about there being a lot of kids at this hotel, and thought it was a weird thing to say. But there are TONS of kids at this hotel! More than you would expect to see. This hotel is a bit older, but kept up and clean. Our beds were really comfortable, although the layout of the room was a little odd. Overall, nice place. We would stay there again. The breakfast included with the room was really nice and the staff were very friendly.

Waterford hotel is conveniently located and offer great services. The breakfast at Waterford is exceptional considering that it is free: it is a full scale buffet! The only regret is that our room had a window on a inside hallway, therefore our room was pretty dark. The beds are ok, not great. Clean and nice; however one bed seemed to be on an angle! Overall a great place.

All went well except a plumbing concern of a stopped up toilet in our room upon arrival. It was immediately taken care of by maintenance satisfactorily. My children enjoyed the swimming pool as well as a company's use of the ballroom. The lounge/eating restaurant was awesome and staff were very accommodating. I stayed for a week and traveled 25 minutes north to Berrien Springs, MI for a course (the travel was an easy commute). Overall it was a great place to stay and the pub/restaurant was great. The ONLY problem I had was on my last night there was a large group staying with children (maybe over 25 kids from ages 9 to teenage) and they were VERY loud in […] the halls until after 10:30 at night. The Waterford Estates Lodge is located close to Notre Dame and downtown South Bend. Our room was comfortable and clean and the room price was moderate. Our only complaint was that the room smelled somewhat like smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. We would stay at the Waterford again.

We were very pleased with our stay at Waterford Estates Lodge. I specifically liked the fact that it sits behind another hotel, thus minimizing the highway noise. I was surprised and delighted that the pictures we saw online presenting the Lodge to prospective customers were very accurate to what the Lodge looks like.

We were very happy with our stay here. The staff was friendly and even though the hotel is dated, it had many upgrades that made it work well for us. We appreciated the large room with two queen sized beds. The Boze Radio and flat panel TV were much appreciated. The little Refrigerator and microwave made it very convenient to reheat and serve simple […] snacks or meals. We enjoyed the very hearty breakfast each morning! While we've been visiting the ND campus for the past seven years, this is the first time that we've stayed at Waterford Estates Lodge. Our room was very clean, very quiet and very large (two queen beds). It is one of the closest hotels to the campus, and well within walking distance. The large pool, jacuzzi and exercise room were nice to have. Our stay was delightful, from the moment the desk clerk welcomed us so warmly, to our wonderful ribs and wait staff who served us dinner, to the condition of our room and comfort of our bed. Definitely will stay here again. Also very convenient to I-80 and I-90.

Very nice hotel and less expensive than hotels in "downtown" South Bend. The free breakfast was delicious. Room was nice. I had asked for a king, but was given 2 doubles. Beds were ok -- a little hard for my liking. Overall, it was clean, available, and gave a free breakfast.

Room was up to date, clean and comfortable, except I could not get the heater shut off and the fan would come on every few minutes, sometimes waking me. Also may sound picky but the hot tub was warm, not hot.

Our stay was very good ... Its a little older hotel with new updates ... the reastraunt and bar was amazing ... I like the older style of rooms but the bed could be updated ... other wise it was great. O ... by the way the Food is AWESOME!!! Especially the Blackend Chicken with Cajun Alfredo Sauce!!!!!!!! This hotel is a series of two story building connected by interior walkways. Our room was roomy and well furnished. A large, well equipped gym, with weights, weight machines to accompany the usual array of aeorbic equipment. the hot buffet breakfast was a plus. Fairly close to ND.

We expected an average hotel when we booked this reservation. Much to our surprise, it was great! The room was very nice and the staff very helpful and friendly. The outside and hallways needed some updates but the room was way above our expectations. Wonderful stay!

This hotel went beyond my expectations. The room was nice because there was 2 doors; one led straight outside to our car's parking spot and the other led into the inside hallway. There was a large in-wall flat screen t.v., a medium size fridge, a microwave, hairdryer, ironing board, an in-room heater/air conditioner that can be controlled, the window […] opens an inch, blackout curtains, nice modern alarm with radio, nice hot shower, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, body wash, bar soap, plenty of towels, oversize easy chair, vanity desk with chair, sink/mirror outside the toilet/shower, coffee maker with two decaf's and two regular's with sugar/creamer etc, tea, real glasses for drinks, plastic cups, paper coffee cups with lids, real mugs for coffee also, ice container, 4 pillows per bed, extra blanket and pillow in closet, 3 locks per door, peep holes in door, lots of different lights in room, and a very nicely decorated modern room. We did not swim or use the hot tub, but it looked very nice. The breakfast is really amazing. We got two tickets upon check-in for a hot breakfast in the Irish pub before 10:30 the next morning. It was a very upscale looking pub/restaurant with cherry wood high-walled booths and a projection screen on the wall which was showing the travel channel at the time. We were the only people in the restaurant at 10:00 am, so it was nice and quiet. It was a brunch style set-up, with scrambled eggs, potatoes with peppers and onions, biscuits with gravy, bacon, oatmeal with brown sugar available, yogurt with granola to add, cold cereals with milk, bagels, toast, cream cheese, butter, jelly, mini blueberry or chocolate chip muffins, and choice of coffee, milk, juice, or soda. All we had to do was leave a tip for the woman for bringing drink refills and checking on us. Check-out was noon, which was awesome. Parking was free, and the hotel was very nice. We were pleasantly surprised with our stay. Great, clean room, very nice staff, and a lovely breakfast!

This hotel suited our needs just fine for a quick overnight trip to Notre Dame to see our daughter. We needed a hotel close to campus that would allow a small puppy. This hotel was convenient, clean, and not expensive.

The Hotel is gorgeous, close to Notre Dame. Staff is wonderful - we'd love to stay there again!

It's honestly a hidden gem and I'm torn between giving it a great review or keeping the secret all to myself. Great hotel. The breakfast area was ok. Hotel staff was great. Workout area was very good. We liked the beautiful artwork, we really enjoy everything.

We got really lost because coordinates were not on GPS...and phone # was also wrong.

Hotel needs a complete makeover. Grounds are not well tended, rooms no better. Old, worn out mattresses. Complimentary breakfast was appreciated but was the same every day for 4 days. Had to pay to use the computer to check my email Neighborhood is questionable. Not enough handicapped accessible exterior entrances. Will not stay there again.

There was a mix up in room but it was quickly resolved. the room was clean, but the bathrooms are very small and outdated. Very well priced.

We stayed at the Waterford for the ND vs. Navy game. The location of the hotel to the stadium is excellent. The room was newly remodeled and clean. But, the rooms could use queen beds instead of double beds. The outside of the hotel was in ok condition, but you could tell that it used to be a motel with many of the rooms opening directly outside. The […] corridors were not remodeled to the highest of standards and were quite chilly. They also need to put more than two ice machines in the hotel because it covers a pretty large footprint.
